The ATI demos really made me appreciate my machine! I almost fainted when I saw the crystal ball demo.

I know how ya feel.

When we lived in an apartment, I had DSL and it was working great. Moved to a townhose and the DSL station was over the optimal distance so it was crawling at about a third of what it was supposed to put through, not to mention disconnecting all the time. To my huge relief, a few months later, a DSL station was installed right accross the street!!! ! Now I get all that the station is capped to give me! Its awesome.
When I first moved into a dorm room my freshmen year. They were rushing to finish the buildings AS we were moving in. Putting furniture in the rooms and such.

But no cable, no telephone, and no network access for approximately a month and a half.

Talk about going crazy....

Yeah, I spent a lot of time on my laptop in the library using the wireless Internet. They kicked me out at the end of the night.

Yeah, at least you are in school where pretty much anything is equipped with Internet.

Maybe since they won't have to set up another CO, I might actually get to see DSL a bit sooner.
i told you so.

Litehedded, I think you are aptly named.

First, what you said was not the same thing as Blackbeard.
BlackBeard offered some useful information in his post. Your’s was simply a non-informative contradiction. No explanation given to support your statement. No references; Nothing useful that we might gain some better understanding from.

Second everything I have read thus far has directly stated that DSLAMs are placed at the CO. I’ve even checked other sites after my initial response to your drabble. I have seen nothing that even suggests distributed DSLAMs outside of the CO. If you have information of such, do us a favor and post that. That would be useful. Not just simply argumentative as your earlier post was.

Third I hope what BlackBeard posted is true. It potentially means I get DSL sooner rather than later. Since I do not work in telecom or know anyone in telecom with which I can confirm/deny what BlackBeard said, I will call SBC and hopefully get an answer as to whether/not DSALMs are distributed outside the CO.

i wasn't here to give a lesson on dsl technology or get into an argument. i was just stating what i knew from my own personal experience being a dsl tech. im sorry if it came out wrong.
i didn't work for the phone company so until you mentioned it i never heard of a CO. our dslams were place strategically to increase coverage area.
i apologize for any confusion.
