Brand new machine, decides it just doesn't want to power up any more. Tried pulling battery, hard drive, RAM, video card, no dice. OTP w/ AW for over two hours, no such luck. Sent it back last week, s/w tech today said they replaced the mobo. REPLACED THE MOBO? Uh, wtf? Thought this was supposed to be fully stress tested BEFORE they sent it to me. Bastages prolly replaced it w/ a refurb anyway

hey, maybe you'll luck out and they'll give you the new version and you can upgrade to the go6800 ultra without having to send it in for the mobo swap.

Where did you guys get your cable adapters? I got a PAL to CATV from radio shack and it fits loose in the back of my 7700. Is there such thing as a CATV to S-Video adapter?

mine from radio shack fits really tight. I got the 90° angled one. I bought this one:

just to bring the links back to the last page. Ramrod, maybe you could add these to Post #1.

Here's what you guys will need to get to hook up cable to it:

here's one from RCA (phono) to s-video {click the pic}:
EDIT: stack this with a phono to "f" adapter

Ok, I saw the phono plug at the store, but got the PAL one instead. That should get changed on the first page. Thanks Keisur, I like how you illustrate what your talking about.

You cant hook catv cable to the s-video port. What keisur is showing is a s-video adapter to composite video.

There are 2 versions at radio shack. One looks like a standard phono plug to f connector and the second version looks like this

That is the version I have and it fits extremely tight.

Yes, you can but you have to find an adapter to go from "f" to s-video, which is difficult. Why I showed the phono to s-video is becuase you can use it and stack it with an "f" to phono adapter and go from cable to s-video like that. link to an "f" to s-video adapter if you know of one.

The european version is the one you are using and I thought you said it fit too tight when you were in the testing stages? the ones I posted fit just tight enough, like on the back of your stereo or TV's.

You can certainly make a connection that way but it will not work. You will never get video from a regular antenna or cable tv plugging into a svideo slot. The actual tuner is built so that it only accepts catv or antenna input on the pal connector. The s-video port is just a video passthru nothing more.

I see what you are saying, but I wasn't thinking that's what he was wanting to do. I thought he just wanted the video from the cable. Where does the video show up when a source it plugged into the svideo input then?

i've skimmed through this thread bu haven't seen any comments on hooking up a gaming console to the tuner. i'm currently fighting with another computer to get my xbox displayed through it's composite in to a LCD. xbox out > composite in on video card (MSI Ti4200 agp8x). i'm noticing a 300ms lag.
i've also tried to use a Ati TV Wonder but it's lag is worse. Have you tried hooking up a gaming console? If so, have you tested the lag?
When I say lag, I mean; I press a button on the xbox controller and 200ms later the results are shown.
i'm also using wdm drivers, but would be willing to get a TV Tuner IF the lag is gone, just thinking that pci-e may be better for this.

For sound get one of those cables from radio-shack that go from a 1/8" stereo mini-plug to 2 RCA plugs. I just plugged one side into the line in port and the rca jacks into the av pack. Sounds great. Video quality is decent. good enough for playing games.
Guess you missed my post. Use Fly for Xbox. it works great and like i said no lag.

got mine and seem to be having an issue with the composit and tv in, svideo works, but since my dvd player is the only svideo out option I have, all I get is the video from the vcr or dvd, no cable. I am picking up an adapter tomorrow though and will post my findings.

There is no composite input to the tuner. You have to use the s-video input. It sounds like you are trying to hook up composite to the antenna/catv input. If you need composite input you will have to buy a composite to s-vid adapter.

Antenna/CATV will only work thru the antenna input connector. The tuner will only receive tv/catv channels thru that port.

...and to receive over-the-air broadcast you can do like I did and just plug in a 6-foot speaker or video cable (with RCA jacks) in and stretch the wire up the wall. see my post on the first page with my screen shot of my reception from this method [ http://www.notebookforums.com/showpo...5&postcount=82 ].

Anybody know what trick (or how I need to hold my mouth) to get the audio output to work using ChrisTV?

THere is an option to route audio thru the card. It is an option you have to check to enable in the program.

I have a catv port which is an rca plug, then an svideo in with a picture of a camera, and an svideo port with a picture of a tv, I assumed the rca jack was composit in, do all 3 of these run through the single internal antenna cable? am I just retarded? in either case I am picking up both adapters tonight coax -> rca, coax -> svideo

The RCA jack is the tuner port.Only over the air signal and cable tv signal can be fed to that port. The port beside it is s-video in. The other port you talking about is s-video out which is not related to the tuner.
I figured that was the case, just thought I would double check though.
last question, does the rca jack pull audio and video, or do I need to buy a splitter for coax to component(video, left and right)?
