When you gonna let us know the maker, or is that going to be a surprise for when we open the package?

Paypal's fine by me.

HAHA, you know I appreciate it. hell, it's me and you that spurred AW to get off their azzes.

Rest assured that as soon as the product is ready for market I will let everyone know. In reality I hope just to help get it ready for primetime, get some units out there and hope the maker decides to sell it directly. That may not happen though since Clevo is now looking at this tuner also and may not allow it. If not I will keep units on hand to sell myself.

Yeah I know, looks like warner didnt have any more answers on our thread at AW

As of this morning Im still waiting for an updated software release of WInDVR and Home Theater. WinDVR will probably be first since it is a much simpler piece of software. I have the units on standby waiting to ship with my approval of the software.

As far as operation goes I have left the tuner on since last monday and the unit has not given me one bit of problem. I've left it running while using about every piece of software or game I have and nothing seems to affect it. The tuner itself is very solid now if I can get some good tuner software to go with it.

Anybody know of any 3rd party tuner packages floating around the net.

Delays, Delays, whatcha gonna do.

For my external tuner by Hauppauge, I use Beyond TV 3 by Snapstream Media. However, I believe that in order to use this, it uses the actual tuner's underlying tuning software. I don't believe you can use it standalone.

have you tried the Avermedia software?

No I haven't. Cant find a copy to try.

I have tried about a dozen programs off the net. The best program I've found is called Chris-TV and seems be work exactly the same as WinDVR with the exact audio problem windvr suffers from. The audio must be routed oddly to have the exact problem with several programs and both boards do it.

I guess I'll wait for the software company to get their butts in gear and update windvr. If it takes to long I'll probably get the tuners shipped out with the current version and what for the updated version. I figure one week from today ought to get me an updated version.

Try here, it's on the Sager Support site:

Ok heres the final word on the software from the manufacturer of the tuner. Intervideo will not update WinDVR or Home Theater without buying 10 thousand pieces which is not going to happen.

This means that no remote is going to make it way into the tuner package. WinDVR works great except the volume control has to be controlled by the standard volume control instead of the control built into WinDVR, except when you timeshift then it works.

I will be contacting a third party software writer to get this tuner added into his software.

So at this point I'll leave it up to you guys as whether or not you can live with the one minor bug or if you would rather I just drop it. I have 25 units ready to go I just dont want to get stuck with them because nobody wants them. Personally the volume control is a non-issue for me but I need input from you guys.

If you are still interested the total will be $60 shipped in the US and Canada payable either via paypal or money order. You will be here 4 days after I order and if I have enough people committ I will order by Friday.

I don't care where I control the volume from as long as it can ultimately be controlled. Most stuff is jacked up anyway with all the volume control options. That's not a big deal to me. I just want a TV tuner.

Will we be able to update software as it gets updated or will we be stuck with the stuff that comes with the original package?

The software has never really been a deciding factor for me. The volume works and can be adjusted so that is all I ever cared about anyhow be it in the windvr or thru the regular control. I can see the manufacturere side of it. This tuner was specifically made as an ODM item and I just happened upon it. Whats better is that with the changes Im having done with the tuner and software being packaged with it is that I get a part number all to myself.

If windvr gets an update then of course you can take the update. I would suspect that if Clevo does accept the final design as the manufacturer has stated then I would think that both pieces of software would be updated to work in any clevo laptop. Also Im in the process of getting a third party program rewritten for this tuner and that will fix all the problems anyway. Then you could stick with windvr or the new software if I can get the author to add this tuner.

The tuner itself is great and will be a direct plug in once I get the antenna input connection replaced. That will happen when I place the order for the first units so there is no concern with that.

So as it stands I have one confirmed regardless of the software. I need to get at least 10 confirmed before I feel good about ordering these. Im laying $1,000 out just to get the first units packaged and shipped so common guys let me know you really want this to happen.

Payment options can be discussed in PM. I dont want to give out my mailing address or email in an open forum with all the bots that filter thru looking for that information. Paypal or money order will be preferred and can be easily verified that I did receive it, cash is a big NO as I dont want someone losing their money in the mail and coming after me.

this works with the internal wireless card on the 7700 right? oh and is there a delay in the video? I want to use this for playing racing games from my xbox so a delay is not an option.

Yes it does, thats how mine is setup right now. There are 2 mini pci slots in the system. The one on the left should be open for the tuner.

In all my testing I've not had any compatibility issues but I cant say 100% that there couldnt be. Something can always crop up and if I'm notified about it will jump all over it to find a fix for it.

You know I honestly havent hooked up a Xbox or PS2 to try. I'll hook both up tonite and see. I didnt notice any delay when comparing my satellite video when comparing TV to the 7700 but it'll be good to see.

2 confirmed for ordering. Only 8 more to go.

This is for a tuner with windvr3 software and NO remote control.

Remote will not be possible unless Clevo picks up the tuner and orders 10kpcs to get the software patched and updated for audio issues.

A couple of questions...

Does this manufacturer have any mention about Video4Linux support? If not, would they be willing to provide the hardware information necessary to make this happen?

How did the tests with the 5500 machine go?

Any chance for a quantity discount if I ordered in lots of 10?

It sounds like you know what you're doing, and are going in the right direction with this. Considering these cards are nearly half the price of what's readily available in retail markets today, I'd really be disappointed to see this effort die due to a lack of funding.

I have not sent out to a 5500 user yet. I just finished up my testing on the one unit that I will be selling and will be sending it out to the person I selected. I didnt want to send out the second unit due to the design and layout of the board.Although it works it is not the unit I thought and didnt want it to test it knowing it was not going to be sold.

On the linux front I looked at some tuner software based on the philips 7134 chip that should work. Not having linux on my system I couldnt say it will work but if you have linux and willing to try I'd send you one just to see if it will work. Also I'll ask the manufacturer if they'd be willing to support a linux project.

Im sure I can work something out if you want to order in lots of 10. I have very little margain in the $60 price I listed though. Im sure I could sell it for more but I figured if I made enough for a six pack afterwards Im doing allright. After all who wants to pay $100 or more for something most people are not going to use that much.

My next step is getting a third party software writer to add this tuner into their software package. I have tried about a dozen packages and found one that I really like. The software is really nice and simple to use once set up but initial configuration is a little tough.

I dont think Im going to let this die on any front. I've worked to hard on it for that. A grand is a drop in the bucket for me, money isnt the concern. Its about having a bunch of tuners nobody wants that would really bother me.

I guess I should have labeled this thread differently since in reality this will work in any of the Clevo based D900T models and not just the 7700. Surely some of the other guys want a tuner.

Here is the other package Im using right now. It has the philips tuner already in it but still has the same audio issue with the volume control.

Ramrod, you know I want a tuner, right? I said that a while ago that barring any drastic defects, I would buy one. Add me to your list.
