Understood, as soon as I recieve this batch of cards with the correct input connector I will be sending one to a 5500 I've already selected and will let everyone know how well it works or doesnt work.

The order for 25 has been sent in and should hear a response tonite on delivery time. Thanks for everyone who has stepped up and placed their names on the list.

My next order of tuners will not be for 4 weeks. I have taken all of the remaining tuners in inventory and the next production run will take 4 weeks to finish. Hopefully in that time enough of the original tuner order will be in folks hands to give some reviews. I am kinda biased since I am selling them and want to hear what other people have to say be it good or bad.

I will have to take 200 tuners to get a run but I dont have to take all 200 in any one time. I plan on ordering 50 or so at a time based on response from the interest generated in the first order.

Well thats all for now. Its been fun getting this ball rolling and hopefully it will spur some company into getting the butt in gear. Now what else do you guys want to see?

How'd the Xbox and PS2 tests go? Using the SVHS input, or composite input?

You only have s-video option and it works fine. As far as I can tell playing mainly first person there is no lag present. If someone buys it for that reason and it doesnt work for them I'll refund the money back and send them a shipping label to get the tuner back.

I know not everyones system is the same so anything will be possible and I dont want someone having something that that dont want.

THe ports on the back are s-video and catv/ air antenna. THere is no composite input for the tuner. However you can use a composite to s video adapter and they work fine. The port that looks like a composite is only for catv/air and is a pal input. I went to the old Radio Shack to grab the right adapter to go straight to a standard rg-6 adapter. There is a adapter included but it goes from pal to rg-6 male and in order to use it you have to get a rg-6 barrel to hook up catv or regular antenna.

Hi there! I'm a total noob to this board, but I've been pestering Alienware for the last month for a TV Tuner for my 7700 notebook, but they keep saying to call back later.

If you still have some available, Ramrod, I'm potentially interested.

However, I have a few questions:

1) I've read through the previous posts and see that there have been issues with the remote. Do you have any units that DO include the remote, and, if you do, what exactly are they used for (I'm assuming its to change channels on the TV, but I was wondering what else they might do)? I noticed in the Alienware documentation that the remote could be used to control the built in CD Player (the one that works when the notebook is off). Have you tested this function?

2) Do the units you currently have for sale allow you to play video games via S-Video input AND watch TV through the Coax input (not necessarily at the same time)? I'm assuming so, but again I'm somewhat new to this stuff so I figured it couldn't hurt to ask.

3) Random question here......do you have any idea if the unit would work with a Japanese TV signal? I'm moving to Japan this summer and I'd like to use my 7700 as a TV so that's why I'm so insistent on acquiring a TV tuner.

Sorry for the laundry list of questions, but if you could get back to me I'd really appreciate it. And if the TV Tuner does meet my minimal requirements, I can paypal you the payment immediately.

Thanks!

Remotes will not be an option as the software does not correctly pass audio from the tuner to the audio system on the 7700. It will only be made available if a software update is done by the software company.

You can have both inputs hooked up at the same time but can only switch on 1 at a time.

3) Random question here......do you have any idea if the unit would work with a Japanese TV signal? I'm moving to Japan this summer and I'd like to use my 7700 as a TV so that's why I'm so insistent on acquiring a TV tuner.

The tuners supports every available signal there is a list of about 20 or so formats and Im certain the japanese format is in there.

Sorry for the laundry list of questions, but if you could get back to me I'd really appreciate it. And if the TV Tuner does meet my minimal requirements, I can paypal you the payment immediately.

If a big ODM ever picks up tje tuner and has the software rewritten then the remote may become a viable option. The software that comes with it will alllow you to control tv,dvd, and cd but not with the machine off.

You should be able to play video games since all you are doing is inputing a video signal into the card, just like you will do with the TV signal or VHS or camera or whatever.

The tuners have left Taiwan and are on the way to me. They will either arrive Friday or Monday and once tested will be ready to leave me by the end of next week.

Hey, i may be interested on buying one of the tuners...but i have a few questions about them.
-Does it support NTSC signals?
-Does it include the COAX2RCA adapter?
-Who is the manufacturer?
-The remote is included isn't it?

Off topic: ¿How did you get that 400mhz oc on ur gf6800?

Yes 3 variants of NTSC

-Does it include the COAX2RCA adapter?

My test unit did it but it needed an additional RG-6 barrel connector because the adapter end was wrong, I do not have final versions yet so I cant say if it has the same adapter or the correct one.

-Who is the manufacturer?

I cant say yet. Everyone will know this Friday. It will not be sold anywhere else because of the changes I had the manufacturer make from the ODM design. This part will be specific to the 7700 and other clones of the D900T.

-The remote is included isn't it?

The remote is not included due to software that will not pass audio correctly. If fixed I will make remotes available if the software is patched.

Modded the heatsink and GPU surfaces to allow for an ultrasmooth surface are a and more precise contact between the 2. I can run at 410 for about an hour or so before it really starts to mess up.

Thanx! I'll think about getting one...

I can get my card to 375...@376 it no longer passes the "tests"
same here. 380/1000 is the best I can OC to, and I've AS'd, haven't lapped anything but I'm not a firm believer in that making much difference either. Risk:Reward ratio doesn't support my doing it either.

I used to think that lapping wouldnt make that much difference either but in this case it made a difference of 35 mhz. I dont run it at 410 but at 390 to avoid any possibility of damaging the card. I also lapped the CPU and can overclock it big time in another system. The mobo in the 7700 just doesnt like the FSB to be overclocked to more the 217mhz. Lapping done correctly makes a lot of difference but if you dont know how to do it you can mess things up quick.

Video games play fine thru this tuner. I just played a couple of hours on the xbox and PS2 with various games and didnt run into any lag issues. Since this is a direct input you shouldnt have any issues with games but if there is a problem and you only buy the tuner to play console I will refund your money if you choose to send it back once I receive it back.

Tuners should be stateside tommorrow.
I'm still very interested, but I will wait to commit to buying one until you post the details of your new shipment.

I started looking into this a little more, now that the cards are on the way.

It looks like ChrisTV has macro shortcuts that can be triggered by remote control software like WinLIRC (which itself can be configured for many popular remote controls).

Hmm.... I might just have to hook up an Xbox IR receiver and hack around with WinLIRC. It'd be great to have ChrisTV and WinAmp available via one remote control. If I can get a proof-of-concept on that, I might have to dive in deeper and figure out how to get the internal IRDA port working with WinLIRC.. :-)

Any update on their arrival, Ramrod?

Cards should be stateside today. Tracking wont show anything new until late tonite since tracking is coming from taiwan and the time difference. They should be at JFK which means I'll have them tuesday or wednesday since the post office isnt working Monday.
