Is there a new 700m model coming out?

Is there going to be a new 700m model coming out in the near future? If so, does anyone know when it's going to come out and what changes will be made to it? Thanks.

As a side note, i saw on QVC a "Dell 730" laptop....it had the media buttons in the front like the 6000, but looked smaller. Am i missing something??

There better not be, I just got my 700m today.

According to QVC , there is a 715, 730 and a 750.

Nevermind my above comment. QVC is advertising it as the "Dell 730" because of the processor. Why? I have no idea, but it is a 6000....and a very expensive one at that!

Dell 730 Intel Pentium M Ntbk 512MB 40GB DVD+/-RW& 15.4"Diag TFT

Retail Value $2399.00
QVC Price $1996.00
Introductory Price $1832.00

Now why the flip would you order a Dell through another company? You would have to be seriously misinformed, or just an older woman with extra cash to spend. Hope my grandma doesnt buy this....like she bought the "Magic Bullett" blender last week.

Haha!

Yeah I just checked out the link and saw it was a 6000. I could have sworn I heard that a newer 700m model was coming out in august or something though...

Don't buy a dell through a different company buy it from dell. why in the world would you buy a dell from a retailer when you can go to dell and get it

IMHO the next generation will be 710m on Sonoma platform.

Wish that Microsoft releases Longhorn by end of 2005 so 710m comes with Longhorn

qvc always sells DELL computers for way more than what they normally are available for....suprising, but i guess not everyone knows about coupons and such
post #10 of 42
the 700 numbers refer to the processor, not a new dell computer

nope...don't bother trying to wait it out unless you have time to do so. you will never out wait newest technology. plus, for what you are going to do with it, even if a revision to sonoma, it ain't gonna make any real difference in terms of overall application for your needs.

Thanks for the replies. I guess I won't sit around waiting then! Still not completely sold on the 700m, but it looks like a very nice laptop.

The 700m hasn't been sold on the UK website for around a month, so I'm hoping it's going to be replaced soon.
It should be replaced soon, there really is no reason for dell not to switch to the 915 chipset (Sonoma). Then again, pricewise it may be a business tactic to not switch.

So if a new 700m were to come out, it would be more costly?

Of course it would, anything newer than the previous would be more expensive, but I haven't heard anything about an updated 700m.

not necessarily,...the 9300 and 9200 were about the same pricewise, as well as the xps 2 vs. xps 1, both were around the same pricepoint. In some cases the new models could be gotten for cheaper than the older models could a month before.

There will always be a cheaper and faster computer in the future. If you need one or want one now, just bite the bullet and get one.

After that, for your own good, don't look at pricing of what you just bought because it'll depress you!

I wish the 700m replacement would come out soon, I want to ditch my bohemouth (I8200) for something nice and portable.
