Brand new coupon from Dell Home Office valid for less than 24 hours. Use coupon code HVLV2SM4?VP9DK to save 35% on any Inspiron Notebook purchase of $999 or more. Coupon expires 5/12/05 at 5:59 am CT or after 5000 uses, whichever comes first.

The 35% off is one of the better coupons. I think its way better than the $750 off on the 9300/XPS2

the outlet coupons were the best.......

It so hard to max out the config now, either 35% or $750 off isn't much different. They no longer have, BT, extra battery, tv tuner. Just about the only way to max out is to get a higher spec processor, ram and or warranty.

Edit, nevermind. I bookmarked an old config link that didn't show these options for some reason. But they are there if you go through Dell.com. Sorry for the confusion.

With adding in the new 100gig 7200rpm drive, $1,981.20 .. very tempting

do these work in Canada or are they for the states only AGAIN?

...did the deed. I was so looking at the much anticipated Sager 9860 with the ultra and 64 bit but in the end the 35% off was just too sweet. In 4 yrs time I'll swap the XPSG2 for the XPSG6 or the Sager XXXX whichever is better specced and value. Also the newegg transcend ram was getting pretty sweet as well, no way was I going to cough $750 for the Dell 2Gb sticks.

The outlet - there were no XPSG2 avail so those that scooped them up lucked out. Oh well.

Just ordered another XPS2. I'll send my current one back once I get the new one. I'm still within 21 days!!

^ Same!

The $750 coupon is better than the 35% coupon when your laptop comes up with a total between $1999 to $2142.85.

Well, I finally did it...

Well, after being a Mac user all my life, and being disappointed with the latest PowerBooks, I took the plunge and ordered a Dell Inspiron XPS Gen 2 with all the trimmings! I needed to replace this 3.5+ year old Titanium PowerBook. I have been saving up for a LOOONG time. I was expecting to get another PowerBook, but they just suck so bad right now... I don't know if everyone noticed, but Dell added one of the new 100GB 7200RPM drives as an option!!! Which I went for... My total came to just under $3,500, which has MUCH more and costs LESS than an education discounted Apple PowerBook 17". Oh how I will miss Mac OS X... But this should be worth it (I hope). Here are the basics of what I ordered (from what I remember, since Dell's site seems to be down/really slow right now):

2.13GHz 770 P-M (I am a little bit leery on the non-64-bitness, but oh well)
2GB DDR2-533 RAM
100GB 7200 RPM Hard drive (WOOHOO! I have been waiting for these!)
256MB Nvidia GeForce Go Ultra
8x Double-Layer DVD+/-RW drive
Extra Battery and A/C Adapter
XPS 2 Backpack
Personalization Shield
Win XP Pro
Intel Pro A/B/G wireless
Bluetooth 2
As little software as I could
4 Year Premium Warranty
17" WUXGA (1920x1200) screen
Tripplite Plug-In Surge Protector
External USB Floppy
Whatever else I can't think of...

Can't wait to get the thing! I am not lookign forward to Windows though, I am so used to relatively problem/virus/blue screen/crash-free OS X... Oh well, Apple, your iPods can only do so much. I was such a die hard, hard core Mac/Apple lover... See you all on the flip-side. -JB

That would be "bare basics" on the XPS G2. By the time you add in stuff like the completecare warranty, it bumps it up and the 35% would really come into play. I travel a lot and there is no *way* I would purchase any notebook without the completecare warranty or accidental damage...one too many coffees

For a lesser priced system like the 9300, the $750 would make more sense with a reasonable config and kept under $2142.

Cheers...

By the way, is this the max "standard" Dell percentage off coupon seen so far ? I recall the last major one was 33% ?!?! (not counting any additional stackable % off coupons like some have reporting).

I knew I could've waited a little longer to buy a new laptop but this new 35% coupon and the fact that my current system is getting quite old (Celeron 700MHz with only 11MB of RAM shared for video...) made me get the urge to get this new 9300 system today. Oh well. At least I'll have the whole summer to play around with it. This is what I got:

Dell Inspiron 9300-
OS: Windows XP Home Edition
Processor: Intel® Pentium® M Processor 730 (1.60 GHz/2MB Cache/533MHz FSB)
Display: 17 inch UltraSharp™ Wide Screen XGA+ Display
Memory: 1GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHz 2 Dimm
Video Card: 256MB NVIDA® GeForce™ Go 6800
Hard Drive: 100GB
Network Card: Integrated 10/100 Network Card and Modem
CD/DVD Drives: 8x CD/DVD burner (DVD+/-RW) with double-layer write capability
Wireless: Networking Card (802.11 b/g, 54Mbps)
Battery: 9 Cell Lithium-Ion
Warranty: 3Yr Ltd Warr,At-Home Service, and Tech Support plus Nights and Weekends

Unit Price: $2535.00
35% off Coupon: -$887.25
Final Price: $1647.75

So the shipping was free but it was a nice surprise that there was no tax charged either (living in NY, I've come to expect taxes on everything).
I think I did alright with the price. I probably could've brought the price down a little more if I bought the RAM seperately but I don't really feel comfortable doing it myself (afraid I might mess up something) and don't many people around here who would do it for free/low price. I opted for the XGA+ screen as well since its native resolution is good enough for me and I hear it has less glare than the UXGA screen. Anyways, just eagerly awaiting the day it comes to my home now.
