Ferrari 3400 Ram

Thread Starter
The time has come for me to upgrade my ram.
I am nterested in having 1gb or more.
My questions:
1. Does the make of the RAM matter? e.g Corsair vs Kingston vs Unbranded?
2. If I buy pc3200 1gb ram stick, will it work with one of the current 256mb stick s that are in it at the moment? (IE, that would be 1,270MB of ram)
3. Would the faster 3200 stick be throttled down to the same as the 256mb sick?
4. Would this RAM be ok: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...766188157&rd=1
5. Will it take DDR2 RAM? Or is it all the same?
Thanks a lot.

ed; any help is appreciated

this 1..http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...6766188157&rd=1
the price of it is ridiculous...i beleive u can haf 1,270MB but i think its not very good to haf diff stiks..AND this is important this goes to desktop comps but not sure about laptops..the stiks u're buyin shuld b the same brand to the 1 u haf now unles u're swaping it out diff brands can cause collision errors..not always tho

1. im not really sure if it makes a difference but if you are leaving in he stock ram the more expensive ram might not run to its full potential
2-3 if you buy a pc3200 stick it will work with the current 256mb but it will only run at pc2700 the speed of the stock. however if you remove the stock it will run at 400

here is what I bought works great also $20 cheaper than when I bought it.

Just thought you might like to know, that RAM that you linked to isn't a SODIMM for use in laptops, thats a regular sized stick for desktop computers

On ebay you are going to pay double that price for anything you can use in your ferrari.

Yes, if you want the best possible speed I recommend that you buy two Corsair XMS3200 512MB SO-DIMM DDR400 memory sticks (part no. CMXSD512-3200LL):

Yes, all memory will run at PC2700 (DDR333) speeds.

No, it's not compatible with DDR2 memory. Even if it did it wouldn't make much sense since today's DDR2 got much higher latency compared to DDR(1).

Yes, although I recommend PC3200 memory for best possible performance on this laptop.

How's the heat of the memory? Does it add more heat to the mobo? And accessing the memory slot under the keyboard void the warranty?
