When I first got my XPS I didn't uninstall any files or do anything of that sort I just decided to test the stock drivers and system as it was. I got a lukewarm 4885 out of the box.
I then installed the better 76.50 XG drivers and got a 5015. But I wasn't quite happy with that. A 150 point jump with only installing the newer drivers is good, but not what I have seen. Next all I did was start uninstalling bloatware, cleaning out my system of unnecessary crap and defragged my HD (which needed it after I installed a lot of programs from my older PC). I turned off my system and let it rest for about 30 minutes and turned it back on. I turned off all running programs such as Spysweeper, etc and re-ran the benchmark. I was happy to see a significant performance jump. I got a 5365!! I didn't set my drivers to High Performance either, which is nice. Next I will try that to see the next score. Note: I tried to upload a fully detailed desktop screenshot but the file is too big for some reason. Do I need to upload it to a image hosting site? Every site doesn't want to accept the file cause it's too big. CAn you link me to a image hosting site and I'll provide the pic.
I am concerned, however, of my CPU benchmark. The highest I have seen it is 4100 so far. It does change drastically though. I have seen a lot of people with 4600+ scores with the same 2.13 intel card. I wasn't running any unnecessary programs. I wonder why it's soo fickle. Can anyone provide an explanation as to why this happens?
