bluetooth headphones

Its been a while since I've posted anything. Possibly cause I've been very pleased with my "out of date" 8790 laptop...thats right...I said it...8790...remember those...before the 9860...ANYWAY...

Looking for some advice on getting some headphones. Although it is relatively convienent with the head phone jack being on the front of the laptop, it would still be nice to be wire free. With that being said, has anyone tried using any bluetooth headphones on these laptops? I know that there are very few options to consider, but I'm looking at the Toshiba bluetooth headphones as a possible solution. Has anyone tried these?

Anyhow, hope I can get some guidance on this subject

p.s. my 8790 still rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A friend of mine bought the BT headphones that work with the iPAQ hoping he could get them to work with his 5680 or Axim. I don't think he ever got them to work with either. Let us know if you find a reasonable (read low cost) solution.

this link will take you to a possible solution I was looking at but I'm concerned about the disclaimer in the specification area about the bluetooth stack requirement.

any thoughts on this?

what's wrong about the stack? my i9300 has a Toshiba BT and it works very good, going to check the stack think later on to see what's that about...

Currently I dont recommend diving into BT headphones just yet due to the Bluetooth 1.2 spec bandwidth limitation. I say wait for BT 2.0 + EDR headphones to come out and then get it!

will bluetooth 2.0 be a software upgrade or a hardware upgrade? since I have it built in to my 8790, i'm curious about the upgrade options when this new standards comes up.

thanks

Bluetooth 2.0 + Enhanced Data Rate is a hardware upgrade, so unless you could find an internal 2.0 + EDR card that works with ur lappy, u will need to get a USB dongle... The 2.0 should offer a bandwidth up to 3-4 mbits, vs the 768 kpbs of Bluetooth 1.2 which kind of hinders hi-def audio streaming on BT headsets right now...

Wifi Headphones

Well There is a Brand that is promising a Wifi 802.11 Headphone. They say it won't even need a transmitter or anything so you could listen to it with you laptop. They also have a blth headphone. But I am guessing the profile needed for its operation is only available with the dongle. But the Wifi One seems promising and should be Shown at E3.

Look for LBT , That's the name.
