nx9500 3dmark05 LOW scores

I've only just recently really started looking into improving/pushing my video so I dl'd 3dmark05 so i can see the results. I really only play 2 games on this laptop so far WoW and motorcross madness 2 (go ahead and laugh but other tech buddies and I play every day at lunch religiously against each other)

Anyway WoW runs fine it usually tells me I'm getting in the low low teens for FPS while in game but its smooth no complaints. I have the FX go5700 64mb vid card and currently using the xtremeG drivers and using the best "detected optimal" settings for now. I ran 3dmark a few times but stoped it since its SO chuggy and chopy it was showing 0 to 3 FPS max usually only 1-2! So finally I just let it run all the way and every test was just as bad. The score was 476!! WTF it can't be that bad if these other games are playing (granted they aren't really FPS games). I used the default settings...is there something I should be changing? No other programs where running and virus protection was disabled...exactly as everything is when I play WoW.

More info:

nx9500
1gb ram
80 5400rpm(i think)
P4 3.2 H/T
fx go5700 64mb detected optimal settings: Core 333 Mem 617

If you are referring to 3dmark 2005 that's a normal score for your graphic solution with 64 megs.

If you want 'practical' benchmarks for 'current applications' I would suggest 3dmark 2003.

Should be more accurate.

For 3dmark 2005, Ati X700 or newer, or Nvidia 6600 or newer are recommended. Totally high-end and 'current' systems.

Post your 3dmark 2003 score. I would assume it to be approx ~1800ish.

I personally 3dmark my systems not for gaming performance but to check DirectX compatibility and also a 'stress test' for the system to ensure it doesn't overheat.
That said I work with AutoCAD and do a little work with arb openGL, and on occassion yes, I will play a game. But I am definately not a hardcore gamer.

That said, my mobility radeon 9600 in 3dmark 2003 scores approx 1600. Which of course isn't "good" by any means, -however- for what I use the system for, it's far above what I require.
That said I can play Warcraft 3 decently on this system.
3dmark 2005 scores, well lets just say yours beats mine hands down. lol.
BUT once again, 3dmark 2005 is a benchmark, and thus it 'stresses the system to the max' for rendering. The performance of 3dmark is 'not' the performance you should expect from current games.

If you want to be very thorough:
Benchmark using: 3dmark 2001 and 3dmark 2003 and post your scores.
I'm sure you'll like the numbers more. But definately sounds normal (assuming you did run 2005 of course).

thanks for the info, I guess i was getting caught up in the wanting to see big numbers rather than judge for myself what changes are beneficial to the apps/games I run.

"that said" thanks again!

(just poking fun)

Just wanted to update my score after playing with some different drivers. The best results have been by using the DNA forceware drivers (76.50). I used the same OC settings each time and the score with the DNA's was 491.

This should probably be moved into the benchmark sections (sorry my fault).

update: score of 503 with the latest leaked drivers 77.62 not a bad increase at all!
