Yes, we will be contacting all customer who want to change their order to 9880's and we will adjust their orders at that time.
This is a question for Luke. Im deployed right now and the only way someone will be able to call me is though a Military Line. When I ordered I gave my cell phone which is on military suspension for my deployment. Is there anyway they can email me or give me a number I can call them or me calliing customer service? So manyquestions so little answers =p

This is definitely the way to go. It would be a perfect world if there were 17" WSXGA+ and 17" WUXGA displays offered in both non-glossy and glossy versions since it seems pretty evenly split on people's preference for a display. Heck, even throw in 17" WXGA+ as well for those who do not want or need the higher resolution displays.

Are the clock speeds of the ultra going to be 450/1.06ghz?

Hey RaiderRod, do you know what the exact manufacturer and model number of the non-glossy and glossy WUXGA screens that Hypersonic uses?

4GB will never work Will that still be true when Xp 64 is offered? I count at least 3 DT900's being offered by others with 4GB. I would rather have a Sager but ram is king in my world (High performance 1st, graphics 2nd)

What about this TV tuner? Will it work with Windows XP or not?

I've researched this with Intel. The 915P chipset only has an address space of 4 GBytes and this is a physical limitation that is basically due to their only being 32 wires allocated for addressing memory. If they used 33 wires, you could address 8 GBytes. Drivers for things such as the video card, PCI express, etc need to reserve some portion of that address space and they usually reserve their section from the top of the address space. If the address space was 8 GBytes, then they could claim their portion starting at the 8 Gbyte maximum. But since the address space is 4 GBytes, even 64 bit drivers have to start at this max and work down. For the 9860/9880, it seems that the drivers need to reserve around 0.5-0.75 GBytes of the address space. This is true for other operating systems such as Linux also.

Little different question: If we upgrade, do we get our original video card back with the system? As I'm paying for a new card, I should get the old one back. Otherwise, the $700+ is a lot more expensive as they'll also have my old card to resell in a different until. Same question on the MoBo if they are replacing that also. Only seems fair we get our old equipment back as well.

I cant imagine they would presume to take your old card for that price. If so, that price would be way out of line - ultra or not. Granted there might not be much use for me to hang on to the old one, but then again what use would Sager have for it either?

Its really no different than, lets say, buying a new tranny for your car. If the vendor expects to keep the old one for the advertised price - they must clearly indicate that there is a "core exchange" included in the price (i.e. they must tell the customer that the price already includes a core charge that will be refunded upon return of the old core).

I am sure they will give you video card back if you ask for it, as for the motherboard it is my understanding that they are reworking them, not swapping them for upgrades.

Luke,

1) In terms of the new MCE TV tuner, is the external IR box absolutely necessary? Can we just use the computer's integrated IR port instead?

2) Now that we're in the month of May, any word yet on custom paintjobs?

3) Has Clevo/Sager expressed any interest in Lightscribe-enabled optical drives?
1. As far as I am aware... yes. IMHO if you are setting up you lappy to watch TV in a situation that you would use a remote, then the IR box isn't that bad.

2. Still looking

3. I haven't heard alot about it so far.

so does anyone know anything about this new tv tuner?

is it internal? why is it more expensive? do you need windows xp media edition for it?
Internal yes, but with an external IR blaster.
Because the people who make it charge too much.
As far as we have been made aware... no.

Is the WUXGA screen being offered right now super glossy or not? And if not, how much better worse is it than the WSXGA?
No it is not. Still waiting for our sample, look for a reveiw in the coming weeks .

Our number is 800-346-6986... I'm ext 103. Either that or you can hit the handy dandy email button on the forums... that will get me too.

Why does it say requires MCE2005 on the configurator then?

Just added it . I was made aware that this morning that while drivers are available for Home/Pro there is not currently compatable software for it. MCE 2005 is currently the only compatable software for it.

The only thing changed was the motherboard was reworked to meet the power requirements of the Ultra, nothing else was changed.
So what is the expected battery time now?

Okay..

You do know how much less noise and better batterylife we could get if they allowed cpu to be clocked down?

If you would like a machine with a lower clock speed, less heat, better battery, and lighter weight.... I would not recommend getting the 9880. This machine was not intended to have good battery life.

Luke, When do you think you will get your sample? I'd like to see a review before I order but the rebate ends at the end of the month

Also, have you heard anything about the Mobility X800 XT and if it will "fit" into the 9880?
