Also, have you heard anything about the Mobility X800 XT and if it will "fit" into the 9880?
Same here, at this point I am leaning towards the glossy WSXGA 17" screen, but thats not an option at this time. Any idea when this screen will be available?

As near as I read all of this:
The 9880 can address 4 GB of physical memory
Windows XP 32-bit can only address +/-2.7 GB memory

Questions:
Will Windows XP 64-Bit be able to utilize 4GB memory
(yes I know the OS will take some, drivers will take some, etc...)
Do you know if anyone will be releasing 2 GB SO-DIMMs so I could consider an Turion based note book? My notebook goes everywhere with me and I am not looking forward to carrying 15+ lbs around all the time. Still if that is what it takes to get 4 GB I will do it.

Thanks
for your time and patience

See Post #108 of this thread. You will never be able to address a full 4 GBytes of memory with the 915P chipset that is in the 9860/9880.

Hey Luke, any possibility of a WUXGA Glossy screen in the works?

Windows XP 64-Bit Edition will currently support up to 16 GB of RAM, with the potential to support up to 16 TB of virtual memory as hardware capabilities and memory sizes grow.

However, if you look at post 108 you will see the chipset on the MB will not allow that much RAM to be addressed.

Details Regarding availability of NP9880 with WSXGA+ GlareType Screen

To clarify, Sager did not phase out the 17” WSXGA+ Glare Type LCD Screen on the NP9880. It simply is not part of the preorder promotion we are currently running. The WSXGA+ LCD Screen will be made available for preorder as soon as our dealers are able to place them on their configuration page. As Sager wants to make sure all the preordered nVIDIA GeForce Go 6800 Ultra with 17” WUXGA promotion orders are shipped first, WSXGA+ orders will begin shipping the first week of June.

My PMs are off and I don't know that i have you number... but you could always call me .

I sent you an email via the PCT contact form. It has my number / email there.

If you can send me an email it will be clearer than a telephone call.

thanks!

So i ordered the new wuxga screen but now im scared that the wsxga+ is a far better option. i've read several threads about it and it seems like more people prefer wsxga+ and i was fine with getting the wuxga. But now i see that the wsxga+ costs more (i guess making it seem like it realy is better)

Did sager just get a wrong shipment of wuxgas and now needs to unload it?
And if not that, then why exactly is the wsxga+ $100 more?

edit: oh and a final question, any news about what manufacturer the wuxga will be?

Luke,
I am waiting to see your review of the new WUXGA screen with plenty of pics. before I order.

I see other sites offer a WUXGA Glossy or WUXGA non glossy screen. Will Pc-Troque offer the same option?

If I understand correctly I must order before May 31st to get the $500.00 off discount and if I order the WSXGA+ option my system won't ship untill 1st week of june.

I am also curious as to why the WSXGA is $100.00 more expensive then the higher res WUXGA screen?

We will have one soon with the WUXGA, MCE 2005, the new tuner... ect. So yeah lots of pictures . That is correct about shipping times.

The WSXGA+ is not part of Sager's promotional package for the 9880, after Sager's promotion has ended the Wuxga will cost more then the Wsxga+. Until then get the Wuxga while it's hot I suppose .
question, but if you order now, with the WSXGA option, will you still get the 500$ off promotion cause your ordering before the deadline?

PS will the review be up before the deadline of the offer?

thanks
