Sager 9880 (NP9880) release - Page 10

Well this is all very interesting..I'd be interested to see what the cost for the upgrade is.. but unlike everyone else.. I think i'll wait on ATI...Desktops im Nvidia loyal..Moble ATI hehe.. For right now my ATI 800 runs everything and runs it well..so i dont see the point in upgrading it yet...especially if there is yet another change to come when ATI's card is released.

Luke, I am rusty as to whats going on.. every since i got the 9860 i swear i've been gaming on it non stop since end of January. for the EMT64's what do I need to do for this.. Its nothing im going to do now..just for future references.. Is it a bio's update I need or something more involved.

For the people on the earlier threads discussing price, anytime you take something big and make it smaller the price goes up not down.. Im sure its more expensive to make the moble versions of these cards then the big desktop cards everyone can use.. Plus they are not going to sell nearly as many of these as they would a desktop card..so that also plays into the cost.. Still its cheaper then buying a new notebook that can do the samething or better... For me i think i'll wait til i've had it a year and then see what kind of cards and modifications are out for it

Either way..its a great notebook old version or new.. you can't go wrong with it..

I am trying to decide between the Alienware mj12 and Sager 9880. Is there any other notebook that matches or betters these? I am doing CAD, rendering and sound design.

I appreciate it.

i believe the alienware is more expensive, and the 9880 is compared to the 51m 7700 not the mj12m (sentia??) well i don“t know.. but one hing is for sure you will end up paying $500 for alien eyes =p

are those the two to choose from in terms of power and speed?
in terms of the "alien eyes" yes i prefer the more simple casing.
any other suggestions? i had spoken to rhino and they said to stick to the 1400 instead of the 6800 for stability reasons.

The review please! That's always been available at PCT. The new screen needs its quality verified.

That should be stickied or ammended to the description of the card, or something. Contrary to popular belief, MCE does NOT have all the features of XP Pro, it's more like somewhere between Pro and Home. Shouldn't have to buy a whole new OS for this card, and now we don't have to

It's in the review section. Interestingly it appears to have the exact same numbers as the 9860 w/ Ultra, right down to the last digit.

Thats because at the time we did the benchmarks it was called the 9860(even though we have the revised motherboard and new AC Adapter), the original benches were done by us but at the time the unit we had was under NDA. Sager later on decide the changes we enough to denote a new model number.

Luke/Adam, great 9880 review by the way ! The only comment is that I felt that you should have re-measured and show the temperatures on the 9880, like you did with the original 9860 review.

Given the upping to 220watts power supply and the hotter ultra card and mobo upgrade, questions will be asked if this has impacted the temperatures especially on the left palm rest.

Perhaps you were short of time to release the review but it would be informational to all to release the measured 9880 temps.

The temps and sound was re-measured, however there was no significant change to report. Since the Ultra has a bit better heat sink, it appears to add no more heat to the palm rest.
