I think $300.00 is a fair price for a GPU upgrade...any more than that is not worth it...maybe installation cost is extra...shipping also.
Well you should tell nVidia to sell their cards cheaper then.... that won't even cover the cost of the card from what I am told.

I'm willing to bet the mobo revision for the GPU is just a cooling revision. The power adaptation is also related to cooling as to handel the new increase in wattage. The tuner is just a new tuner. It's all about cooling people, the rest of the motherboard is the same.

I want to know why sager doesn't release (or included in the 9880) the new intel 945 chipset capable of dual processors.

I think people who ordered before the switch should get the WUXGA just for the anxiety

so we send in our 9860's and get a 9880 back?

What version Bluetooth is it?

WSXGA+ Available on the 9880?

Luke,
I was quite happy with my wsxga+ screen on my 9860. Will the 9880 offer a WSXGA+ option? When you say the 9880 is the succsor to the 9860 does that mean you will no longer be selling 9860's and the only ultimate DTR solution will be the 9880? Can't wait for the review!

The only change between the 9860 and the 9880 id the revised the motherboard to handle the extra power requirements of the Ultra. They have also added some new options, the 9860 will be discontinued after the release of the 9880.

Anyone have an estimate on cost?

Thanks Luke

I realize it may be too early to tell but is the chirping / Stuck Fan issue fixed? Will the fans vary in speed, or be like the 9860s as when they are on the are full blast?

Back to my question:

What version Bluetooth is the 9880?
currently my hypothetically configured 9860 has: 3.4 (650 i think... the one with 64bit.) 1 gig ram, tv tuner, 1 simple optical drive, 1 60 gig 7200 rpm hard drive...

for the 9880, what would i have to sacrifice to keep the same price? would it be possible to buy with the 6800 Non-ultra? and if so, does the new mobo mean it would have longer battery life without the ultra?
........anyone got an idea on the price tag of a 9880? like 2,500-3,000

I just checked another reseller's website a minute ago and the price starts at $2348.00. There is an additional charge of $75 to upgrade to the 6800 Ultra.
I'll be selling my 9860 soon anyway, I guess I'll be getting a 9880 when it comes here.
The price will be between $2000 and $4000 give or take a few hundred dollars so please stop askign what the price for the next few days until you can pre-order.

For everyone complaining about ordering a 9860 and this is better, get used to it if you are interested in computers. There is ALWAYS something better coming around the corner. Everyone that is on this forum knew there were improvements coming, and that the ultra was going to require mobo revisions, but you bit the bullet and bought the 9860 anyway. Most of us figured that a WUXGA screen would show up eventually. We all know that these wont support dualcore processors so dont be angry if there is a new laptop the month after you purchase this one that supports that and you missed the boat. All Sager and everyone said was the graphics module was upgradable, nobody promised that you could upgrade the graphics card forever. Laptops are not at the point yet where we can go to the store and fill them out with off the shelf parts. Hopefully in the future they will be. So expect that when you bite the bullet and purchase your new laptop, there will be a faster, newer, better laptop out there in, at most, a couple of months. Unless your initials are Bill Gates, you probably won't be able to afford the best of the best every month.

No ones complaining, I would just like the opportunity to upgrade to some of the 9880 parts since the 9860 I ordered obviously isn't going to be built any time before the 9880's ship. Who wouldn't shell out an extra 75 bucks for the ultra?

Pricing released by that reseller was false, they made up prices and put it up for pre-order despite Sager's policies. As far as customer's that have currently pending order for 9860's you will want to contact your reseller, you will have the option to upgrade to the 9880 if your notebook has not shipped yet.
