Gateway m680....8-cell battery or 12-cell battery

Hello folks,

Do you think that getting a 12-cell battery is better than an 8-cell battery?

Right now gateway.com is having a promotion in which you can upgrade to the 12-cell battery for FREE.

Because the 12-cell battery is bigger and it sticks out a little bit, do you think it is still worth it to get it over the 8-cell?

The way I reason is that the m680 is used mainly as a desktop so you plug it in most of the time. But if you are going to use it as a portable machine, wouldn't it be wiser to get the 12-cell?

Depends on what you want for batt life 2-3hrs or 4-5hrs

I have the 12 cell and it does not stick out far at all. When you have the AC adapter plugged in the adapter plug (right angle) sticks out further than the battery. Definitely worth the upgrade, especially if it's free. BTW- I get 5+ hrs of battery life.

I have an IBM 9 cell instead of a 6 cell and it lasts me about 5 hours on lowest LCD, 4 hours on highest LCD, so I usually get 4.5 hours outta it, and its DEFINETLY worth getting in my opinion as it only sticks out a little bit
