New Tecra S2 Display Problems

Thread Starter
Just got a new Tecra S2 from Costco tonight. started the machine up and immediately notice the display is very odd.. seems like all the fonts and screen is interlaced with lines.. proceeded to continue setup, bascillaly guess at all the words.. botted up XP, with the XP graphics looking okay but entering xp, the display is jsut really strange.. not sure how to expalin but it's all interlaced no matter what resolution i use

Looking at device manager.. i see the dispaly is set at "standard monitor".. wonder if that is what is making the dispaly look the way it is due to the monitor is setup wrong?

Thanks.. desparately seeking help..

Are the lines that interlace the image on the screen made up of pure pixels of red, blue, and/or green?

Your description sounds very much like a hardware issue, and I would recommend returning and exchanging the machine for another S2, if you have not already done so.

I agree with Cassegrain. Why should hou have to mess with something that you just bought in order to get it to work. Bring it back & have them exchange it for onethat works right outof the box.

I have had the same problem with my S2. Tech support says the display cannot be adjusted to produce a crisp font and icons without reducing the size of the font and icons to "tiny." Has this been your experience too?

Also, where is the built-in microphone located on your S2?

If you have Toshiba Tecra S2 display problems and/or problems with a Toshiba Tecra S1 overheating and motherboard problems, or the "ctrl + F11" problem with a Tecra S1, please review the information on shalabylaw.net and please report your problem to tecra-investigation@shalabylaw.net. This may help resolve the problems with the Tecra S2 and Tecra S1. Thank you.
