Z71V vs. i9300 - Page 2

These two machines is for two totally different audiences.

1) The Z71V is more for the people who like high value at lower cost. It maintain portabilty and battery life longer. This is important to travelers and those who don't see gaming as their life.

2) i9300 on the other hand gear towards power users who game is their key in life. It is heavier and battery life is less. It is not as portable and is thicker too.

Two different beast for two different group of people.

in my opinion, Z71V is the best bang for the buck.

on lights and sound...
the sound is fantastic for a laptop, but it's still not in the volume range of a decent stereo system. In other words, it sounds very good, and it's loud enough to listen to DVDs, but if you're playing instrumental music with a large volume range, then you'd need to hook it into speakers to get the full effect. In addition, some music takes some tweaks to sound at its best. The sound system is very tweakable, though, so it's not a big issue.

There is no button combo that shuts off the indicator lights. On standby, the blue power light will flash on and off.

if you need to move it around at all, get the z71v. its more expensive bc it has to pack good stuff in a small package. im not sure the 17inch i9300 would even fit in a regular backpack? people game HL2 on the z71v at native res and high settings, even a little AA and AF with good framerates. the i9300 is for people who want a true desktop replacement and dont bring it anywhere.

go to best buy and look at the 17 inchers there. if you feel comfortable with a laptop that big and dont mind bringing it to class, go for the i9300. otherwise, the z71v is a great choice
