Just got my first Laptop EVER

I just got my First laptop from dell.

XPS Gen 2
512mb DDR/2
100 gb HD
Nvidia GeForce GO ultra

I am very happy with it as this is my first ever laptop.

I have a few questions tho?

1) how do you tell which LCD monitor I have (Samsung or LG)

2) Since i got the 100 gb hard drive upgrade for free when i orderd the XPS Gen 2, How do you know if it is 5400 rpm or 7200 rpm.

Thanks for helping me out all

I would suggest you get some more RAM from newegg.com - either 1GB or 2GB for max performance

Enjoy!

To indentify your display download Powerstrip. You can google it. Look under options Monitor Information. If it says model Id LPL000. You have an LG screen. That is what I have anyway.

100 gig hd and 512 ram?

i would have gone with a 60 gig and more ram.

I got the 100/7.2k and 512 ram.

Buying ram through Dell is like burning money.

Like i said because i live in canada i dont know if all dell deals are the same, when i got my XPS i got these deals:

60/gb HD upgraded for free to 100 gb
Windows XP Media Center Edition with Remote

The Deal Before that was:

1 gig ram with 128 USB Stick

So i like what i got i will shop around tho for the ram and no i won't be going through dell.

My with you on getting my first laptop. Its going to be the XPS2 aswell.

If he plans to get more ram else where, that wasnt a bad buy.

I just realized that my hard drive is only a 4200 RPM, thought it would be higher, i might get seagate hd instead. Other than that i am happy with my XPS/2
