I've been around the world and I,I,I, can't find my baby...

I keep reading that the Hitachi Travelstar PATA 7K100, "has shipped to customers around the world..." that said, why can't I find one anywhere other than Dell? (US only) I have money and would like to buy......

The Acer Ferrari series only supports hard drives using the parallel interface, but since it's actually more power efficient than the serial interface it's actually no shame at all. While the Hitachi Travelstar 7K100 comes in both a parallel and a serial version, there shouldn't be much of a performance difference to talk about.

That is all fab and super Snorre, but where can i actually get one? I will be testing my equipment for my aerial photography business in the UK in 10 days, I would like to get the faster hard drive in there by then and get rid of this appalling 4200rpm monkey. Still looking for sensible priced 2x1gb sticks of 400mhz 200pin ram in the UK. Don't think I can afford both drive and ram at the same time, would prefer to get the drive first and ram second.

For anyone interested, i will be using the Sony DCS V3, 7megapixels, likely fine jpegs, tiff and raw are big and slow to save (20mb) and all sorts of gizmos and gadgets to make it remote shoot. Hope my Ferrari is up to the processing and imaging(photoshop CS8) challenge!

I don't know where to buy it yet, sorry. Regarding 1GB DDR400 SO-DIMM memory sticks, the only ones I can recommend are Corsair Value Select PC3200 1GB SO-DIMM (VS1GSDS400) and Kingston ValueRAM PC3200 1GB SO-DIMM (KVR400X64SC3A/1G). These sticks have been reported to work properly in the Acer Ferrari 3200/3400 at DDR400 speeds.

Thanks Snorre, have found a couple of shops that sell it,(Kingston ValueRAM PC3200 1GB SO-DIMM (KVR400X64SC3A/1G) all in price for 2x1gb sticks is about £180 in the UK. I might go for that. I don't see it getting any cheaper there.
