Overclocking...worth it?

Thread Starter
In your opinion, is overclocking worth the performance gain versus the risk?

I have read some opinions elsewhere that it does add a considerable upgrade performance with little risk if done with the right precautions. Others have said that the increase just shows up in numbers, but the performance is relatively similar with risks of long-term damage.

Coming from your experiences, which side do you have to vouch for?

Well, in my other Z71v, the overclocking was definently noticable.

if you do overclock it you have to get a better CPU cooling fan/system, if you don't then it's gonna get fried, and if you overclock it 2 musch then it gonna burn and break in half

no, many overclocks can easily be handled with regular hsf combo, especially if you get some AS5 or something of that nature applied to the cpu.

Did you overclock using the BIOS or did you use a software utility?
