Dear all:

I'm a rookie in notebook. I just want to know where I can get a cheap notebook. 4sure.com, ecost.com, or PCConnection?

Thank you!

P.S.: I just use it in office

For the most part... Dell. In the dell General section, there are coupon specials that knock very nice notebooks prices down anywhere from $400-1000 depending on the coupon.

istnc.com/store, click on "notebooks" on the left. inexpensive, great quality notebooks, mostly asus's, much better quality than dell with better service.

I bought a HP NC6000 last week from eCOST for only $799, and I felt very satisfied: cheap, fast delivery. Now they put the price back to $895.

You should keep an eye on dealsea.com or fatwallet.com. And be prepare to buy at any time AND buy only you need it in the foreseeable future, say 3 months.

What is your target price range?

Do you have any idea on specs/

Is gamer and P4/AMD64 with high end graphics important/

Is battery life Pentium M important?

Whate about DVD recorder?

How about bluetooth, is that a must or nice to have?

What size are we talking about, ultra small, mini 12", mabye a big ol' 17"

Are you looking for a cheap used? or how about refurbished? or are you looking for new?

Whats your thoughts about trading online, trading on ebay?

A little more info, not necessarily answering all these questions, but knowing your needs and expectations better may help with a recommendation.

GOOD LUCK!

Thank you all, especially Larry-in-Eastba

I just want to get a NB that can run MS Office, Internet Explorer etc. I'm not a gamer and I haven't any interest in game. The biggest mission for it perhaps is playing DVD, wmv, rmvb,Xvid or Divx smoothly.

Oh, by the way, I thought Pentium M perhaps would be better. But now, in this forum, I don't know. Any suggestion?

Thank you

the cheapest one would probably be the $550 dollar dell laptop. its got the celeron processor, and isnt exactly fast, but if its just for office it should probably be just fine.

noesis, must be that time of the month for ya eh? when anything and everything can set you off for no apparent rhyme or reason!

Hey, I'll second that Dell. Since you did not respond to my question about ebay or trading/buying online I'll assume that does not interest you. I have to say that Dell has the best bang for buck and a good reputation for their low end notebooks.
