iPods are way overrated. Everyone just has them cause Apple spent millions, maybe billions to market them, and now all the teenagers think they're cool. I would buy an iPod for $50 tops. Dell DJs are just a better value. They do exactly what they're meant to do. They play MP3s. They don't do all that extra crap that iPod does. Dell DJs are cheap, too. A 30GB Dell DJ for $299 vs. a 20GB Apple iPod for $299? I think it's obvious which one I'm going to buy.

I'm not a newbie. Well, maybe I am with MP3 players. Anyway, I am knowledgable enough to know that the iPod is a well-marketed piece of plastic. The Dell DJ is still a piece of plastic, but not as well-marketed, and it doesn't have a bunch of zombie teenagers chasing after it like the iPod does. The iPod is the only thing that is keeping Apple alive. If it weren't for that, Steve Jobs would go bankrupt in a relatively short time period.

He wouldn't go bankrupt, apple would. Steve Jobs would just go back to Pixar.

Also on a note I just noticed that WMP10 just added a bunch of movie download sites to its list. I tried one, rented "Flight of the Pheonix" and I was very watchable at only 500MBs for the download. It still was $2.99 to rent the movie but the download was quick. I think for this to really catch on though they need deals like Netflix where we have access to the entire library of movies for $20-$30 a month. That would be an awesome service!

you statements are ridiculous. you'd pay $299 for dell DJ but only $50 for ipod. get real.

I just don't like iPods, but I was exaggerating whenever I said I would only pay $50 for an iPod. If Apple can give me a 30GB iPod for $299, I would consider buying it. If that happened, though, I'd have a real tough time choosing. I would probably still choose the Dell DJ because I can store more songs on it. Part of the iPod's hard drive is taken up by the extra crap that Apple puts on it, which reduces the number of songs that can be put on the iPod. I would still consider it, though. As for now, 20GB iPods at $299 is just ridiculous when compared to a 30GB Dell DJ that can hold more songs than probably even a 30GB iPod.
