currently out, i am not sure if there are any. however, the acer ferrari 4000 does and should be out relatively soon.

There are plenty, but in the US, none.

whats a turion?

Lol... It's the AMD response to the Dothan processor... (thus it is a low-wattage 64-bit CPU).

It's not the industry, it's the hold Intel has on the industry.

Ahem. Try living in Australia and looking for a decent laptop before you complain.

*$#!ing intel

Intel doesn't have a hold on the industry, computer companies have the freedom to select which CPUs they want for their systems, in this case Turion is getting the short end of the stick.

Im sure Intel has no influence at all on companies like DELL....*sarcasim*

Intel has plenty to do with the reason why turion hasnt been seen much in the US.

Intel definetly holds influence, but they don't own the market, the pact Intel and Dell has allows Dell to sell their computers at lower prices. But companies like Alienware and Sager can easily decided to use the Turion, I am actually surprised that Alienware hasn't offered a notebook with the Turion and an X700, it would seem to be a good move, maybe something at AMD is holding up there US release.

they cant because neither alienware nor sager make notebooks. sager gets theirs from clevo, the alienware 7700 is also a clevo, and the sentia is a uniwill i think. the ODM's have to make the laptop accept a turion, and give it a decent GPU.

Yep... Keep in mind Micheal that the Alienwares are just other laptops but very pretty and very cool looking. If they [Clevo or Uniwill] make a laptop with the MT-37/x700 combo in a very small package then AW, Sager, xtremenotebooks.com, et cetera are all going to use it and AW will make it look better and much more expensive. I'd go with a cheaper reseller if the price is too drastic, but that is only if the Turion gets better benchmarks than the PM and still get decent battery life [3 hours on comparable settings to current high performing cards, i.e. Z71V]. If it doesn't, then I'd go with the W1 refresh over even the Ferrari.

I like the acer ferrari because its AMD, and I am interested in running Win XP 64-bit (don't ask why, cuz i really don't know). Thats the reason I would lean towards it over the W1, but i still love both and can't decide. Im hoping more stuff comes out in the next few months so there are more choices before I have to actually buy a laptop/recieve scholarship money. Anyone know for a turion with a decent gpu(x700 or better) that is 17"? I really haven't seen a turion 17" yet. then my choice would be between W2 and whatever come out
