You've tried DVDs, CDs, burned and store purchased and none of them can be read?

my cdrw-dvd combo drive also recently failed, shows it in windows, will not read anything from the discs, but doesn't say they are corrupted or anything, just spins up, and doesn't read. i think it started wednesday afternoon, and i used it wednesday morning no problem. i tried several bootable cds, and none of them work, and in mandrake i get an error like
'cannot access /mnt/cdrom/' or something to that effect
ill be playing with it more today, but if anyone know what is wrong or something...

[edit]: heh, just put in a blank cdr, and now my drive works.

mine also works now. i just cleaned the lens with some rubbing alcohol and a q-tip, then blasted the drive with some compressed air.

mine just crapped out when burning a cd...exactly one minute in, it gave me a "Write Error" and now doesn't work at all. i'm thinking i might have to RMA this...

My DVD-RW/CD-RW drive on my 8890 won't read regular disks but will read burned discs and dvds. I had to copy all my driver discs to CD-Rs on my main computer to get the drivers loaded on the 8890
