another shipping peeve
Ok, here's another shipping peeve.
The guy I ordered from on the phone insisted that they must deliver to my door. No amount of explaining that I am 16 miles from the nearest town, and far even from a paved road, would dissuade him. He would not ship it to my office, which would be a convenient pickup point for me and regularly recieves courriers. "Give me your address like you would if you called 911". (This is after he'd just explianed at length why he couldn't give me any discounts because prices were already low - now he wants to spend a small fortune delivering to the sticks?) So I gave in, he copied down my legal land location, and I left with faint hope that maybe they would actually deliver to me.
Now... purrolator of course will not deliver to my door, as I figgured ... so they leave the parcell at the "local" dropoff point ... which is 16miles away. I suck it up and drive in (during thier narrow daytime operating hours) to pick up ... ... ... ... just my printer! Apparently the computer will arrive tomorrow .. neccesitating another drive and more time off work.
I guess that is part of living in a rural area... but if he had just listened to me on the phone, it would have saved me considerable inconvenience, cost, and time off work. I almost feel like sending Dell a bill for my time and the miles I drove.
Ah well, had to rant, sorry folks,
