I didn't realize that they didn't use UPS until it got to the U.S.

I thought they gave it to UPS from the factory site.
Boxing is part of the production stage and involves flying your laptop from Malaysia to the US. I'd guess the ' Next Day Shipping' option only involves the shipping stage; ie once your courier actually has it.

Thats pretty retarded. Damn outsourcing of labor. I guess thats why I can get a system like that for 1500

I ordered my 9300 last Wednesday (5/11) with that 35% deal and got it today! Still haven't powered it up- been a mixture of being busy with work and my wireless router suddenly decided to stop working (won't even power up ) - but here's hoping my 9300s all fine. My shipping estimate was the 23rd BTW and it wound up shipping on the 16th. So yeah, they tend to be pretty fast with that.

Well, I've been through a wierd production experience. I ordered a 700m with the 750 off 1999 coupon on the 10th. It sat at "in production" until the 16th, then it went all the way to boxing in a few hours. Today I got an email saying it has been delayed or something, and won't ship until "on or before the 25th" (original ship date was 18th). But checking the online status, it mentions nothing new. Still at "boxing". I guess I have to wait and see. I'm just hoping it gets here before my friend's, who I helped order a 6000 on the 15th, now in boxing (original ship date of 23rd, i suspect it will ship friday the 20th).

How long does it normally stay in the "In Production" stage? I ordered my i9300 on the May 11, and it is now May 21 and still "In Production." It said it would ship May 19, but I got an email stating it was changed to May 26 as well, but they haven't updated that on the order status page.

well, after I got the email that said it would ship on the 26th, it ended up shipping on the 20th, only two days late, and I got a concession coupon.

Placed an order thru AAFES on the 14th of May. My est. ship date was the 28th of May. Unfortunatley they screwed my order up and so I had to re-order. So now my 9300 has an estimated ship date of 10 June. I am halfway tempted to just cancel my order and be done with Dell.

Hmm... mine rocketed through everything in less than 2 days... but now it has been "In Transit in U.S." for 6 days with no further info... :-(

hmmm.. nice... dell links me a "click here for more detailed info" for shipping (purolator), purolator has a simmilar button .... which email's you "more details" ... and the link from the email sends you back to the first page... so helpful.

Ordered my I6000d waaay back on the 11th of May. It has never moved out of the InProduction stage on the website. They sent me an email about a week ago pushing the ship date to the 26th. Just got another one today pushing the ship date to the 3rd. The email said I had to call a number to verify wheter or not I wanted them to continue working on the order. As if they were all but asking me to cancel. I told them to proceed because, damn it! I want this machine! I asked, wtf? They said "these systems are in high demand and some of the parts have been on back order". They went on to say "we will try to get it to you quickly". To which I replied, "too late". Think I'll have it in my hands before July? Grrr...

another shipping peeve

Ok, here's another shipping peeve.

The guy I ordered from on the phone insisted that they must deliver to my door. No amount of explaining that I am 16 miles from the nearest town, and far even from a paved road, would dissuade him. He would not ship it to my office, which would be a convenient pickup point for me and regularly recieves courriers. "Give me your address like you would if you called 911". (This is after he'd just explianed at length why he couldn't give me any discounts because prices were already low - now he wants to spend a small fortune delivering to the sticks?) So I gave in, he copied down my legal land location, and I left with faint hope that maybe they would actually deliver to me.

Now... purrolator of course will not deliver to my door, as I figgured ... so they leave the parcell at the "local" dropoff point ... which is 16miles away. I suck it up and drive in (during thier narrow daytime operating hours) to pick up ... ... ... ... just my printer! Apparently the computer will arrive tomorrow .. neccesitating another drive and more time off work.

I guess that is part of living in a rural area... but if he had just listened to me on the phone, it would have saved me considerable inconvenience, cost, and time off work. I almost feel like sending Dell a bill for my time and the miles I drove.

Ah well, had to rant, sorry folks,
Keegan
