Hello,

I am woundering if anyone has a laptop mount in thier vehicle? I am looking to get one for my truck that is not very large, since i just got an RCA input for my cd player i can play mp3's and what not on it now, and i am also looking into getting a gps unit for it as well. Does anyone have any suggestions? I have googled it, but i wanted to see what everyone here thought first.

That's safe!

If you don't have the ability to see around your screen straight ahead and have had a hemispherical separation surgery and able to do two different things at once, then this is a no no!

Simple is best. I use mine for GPS mostly but with wireless broadband sometimes I just like to check email at stoplights. My 700m weighs less than five pounds and is about the size of sheet of printer paper and my car has a monster ashtray so it's a natural to use it for a mount.

At the forward edge of the tray, you can see where I've placed velcro, I've since put two small pieces at the edge of the cupholders to triangulate the weight of the computer. It works very well under all the driving conditions I'm involved in.

The point is, less is more, those police mounts are intrusive, expensive and loosen with age. Try to find a method that works for your vehicle, how much you plan to use it and how fast you can unmount it.

Let us know what you do!

You could use a mint container to hold that 700m... so small! I would get one if I could put money between both a laptop and desktop, but it wouldn't make sense to have a desktop in my dorm when my CTI classes are 3 miles away on another campus. I need mobile power!
Nice pics, Robert...

I'll top it once I get a Ferrari with carbon fiber inlay and have my Ferrari4k docked in it. That's perfection.

That is great! Nice Lincoln by the way! hahah, either that or a crown vic. But judging by the HAVC unit i would say Lincoln.

I am looking at that mount posted above, i am not entirly sure yet what i want to do, it might just work better with it sitting in the passenger seat and being $300 bucks heavyer in the pocket. But right now i am looking for a PDA holder for my center console. Ill let yah know how that goes!

I wouldn't leave it out if you leave your car though, someone might want to steal your laptop...

Carver, are there potholes in Texas? No way that velcro would hold my notebook on NYC roads.

Well, you embarrass me to say it but I lead an almost pothole free existence here in Dallas. Even when I make the occasional foray into the hinterlands of the Texas highway system actual holes are few and far between, we get upset over expansion seams as it bruises the wine even when secured in a wicker basket!

Nonetheless, the three point attachment, wide area of the tray combined with the light weight of the 700m make for a surprisingly stable mount.
