Smartgart and display problems

I noticed today that I was having some problems viewing MPG and other movies. The movies would play but the video portion was extremely slow or choppy, the audio portion was running fine. I had updated to the newest Omega drivers about two weeks ago and thought perhaps whis was the problem. I went back to the Omega site and saw that they had a newer version available for download (Omega 5.4a) which I then downloaded and installed.

However the video problem continues, AND my smartgart tab is missing and I cant get the smartgart utility to run even when typing it into the "run" under the start listings.

Heading back to the Omega forums it seems others have had this problem using notebooks with ATI Radeon 9600 mobility chips and the recommended solution is to update your bios and mobo drivers. I have checked EVERYWHERE and cant find an update to my mobo or bios chipsets. Im using a sager D800P (8890) which I purchased from Adam and PCTorque in Aug of 2003.
Can anyone help me out here????

Okay update:
I completely uninstalled ALL Omega software and all video card drivers from my system. I then dug out the old original drivers disk that came with the laptop and reinstalled the drivers and ATI software. STILL no smartgart tab or ability to control my AGP setting as there was orignally.
Tried calling the ATI prefered customer support and they told me to contact the laptop manufacturer for support. I tried the Sager notebook driver download for the 8890 and the only graphics driver they have is from back in Dec of 2003. Im downloading that one now (they have a sloooow upload speed) and will try installing it in 20 mins once it is done.

Again any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Which version of the BIOS do you have in the laptop?
To determine this do a power up and hit the Pause/Break key at the Power On Self Test (POST) screen.
It will display a version number like 1.00.3-T7 or whatever.
The most recent BIOS is 1.00.10-T1

PM or email me with your email address and I can send it to you.
(Note the file is about 1MB).

Aussie,

Okay here is the latest. I wiped everything graphics related and completely reset it. Went and loaded the original ATI drivers off the installation disk. Then loaded the ATI drivers from the sagernotebook.com drivers page, and this got me back to where I had access to the Smartgart tab and features in my graphics settings window.
However, those drivers were so old (Dec 2003) that they werent compatible with World of Warcraft and I couldnt run the game. So I then downloaded and installed an older version of the Omega drivers (2.6.12-two months old). Now:
A) I have Smartgart back and its functioning
B) My games, software, etc to include World of Warcraft are all functioning fine.
HOWEVER...
C) MPEG's and other movie types are now all playing choppily again, and when doing so my CPU usage according to Task Manager jumps up to 30-45%. The only way I have found to fix this is to go into my graphics settings, click on the Trouble Shoot tab, and then turn down the hardware acceleration slide so that Direct Draw and Direct 3D are turned off. After doing this the movies play normally and my CPU usage stays at aroud 10% or less. However, this isnt an acceptable fix because it demonstrates to me something is wrong because I should be able to run at full hardware accelerationn as I have done for the past two years.

As for my Bios Version it is 1.00.01-T4. Could this be a problem with the MOBO interfacing with the AGP because of the new driver's versus the old bios? Im completely stumped at this point.

EDIT- This seems to be similar to the video/mpeg problem Pizzaman was having in this thread- http://notebookforums.com/showthread.php?t=74159
However, my laptop doesnt lock up. It just plays the videos like crap like 1 frame every 5 seconds or so.

The choppy video playback is definitely fixed with BIOS 1.00.10-T1.
As you said in your funny PM the new BIOS that Sager sent you should fix the problem.
