Is the 12 inch Powerbook G4 any good?

I have never owned an apple computer before and am wondering if it is any good. I have never owned an apple before and before I buy one I want to know if it is all it's cracked up to be? I anm thinking of the 12 in. because of the price difference frow other PBs. Is it worth it to switch to mac and is the iwork software better than Microsoft office.

If you ask any Apple people they'll tell you it's worth it, so we're kinda biased here.

However, I can tell you that iWork is not better than Office. Pages is better at page layout than Word and Keynote is scads better than Powerpoint, but for serious word processing Word is still superior, and of course Office comes with Excel...currently iWork doesn't have a spreadsheet.

There is a Mac version of Office, however.

If you're not sure about switching maybe you should look into a Mac Mini...499 for the 1.25 GHz version and all you need is a KVM switch to use it with your current monitor, mouse, and keyboard. If you'd rather have a laptop then the iBooks are quite good, and are cheaper than PowerBooks...and currently there isn't too much of a difference between the iBooks and the PowerBooks.

I am sure that the Powerbooks are nice. iWork has some advantages over Office, as does Office over iWork. If you are planning on typing documents, then office is probably better. You could always get office mac for your PB. iBooks are okay, but I would rather spend the extra money and get at PB instead. I've seen many iBooks on disply and all are dirty because of the white casing. PB all the way.
