Just a little heads up for those who may be looking for memory upgrades in the future. My 9300 received memtest errors using Kingston KVR533D2S4/1G Memory.

Test 6
Failing address:
000441416b0 - 1089.0MB (Good fffff7ff) (Bad ffffd7ff) (Err-Bits 00002000) (Count Chan 1)

This error came after only 40 minutes of testing. I will update the progress over time as to how many other errors I receive...

USING MEMTEST-86 v3.2

I don't think that you need to single out that it is RAM from Memory4Less, it should be a problem with Kingston in general. I got 2X1GB of Kingston ValueRAM from them and both chips went through 21 passes without any errors.

Well, it wouldnt hurt to.

kingston here too.
No errors.

I hardly ever use address 000441416b0 anyway. It's way on the other side of the chip from the good side near the top edge. I like 0003G0496cd, though, I'd be pissed if that was bad. We're talkin' RMA-ville.

This may be a stupid question. I can not get memtest to run. I burned the image to a cd and tried to boot to it. It just throws me back to windows eveytime. I did set it to boot to the cd. I also have 2 gigs of Kingston memory from memoryforless.

No problems here ...

I ordered 2 1G sticks from memory4less and ran through several passes of memtest with no errors.

What's best? Memtest86+ or Memtest86- or Memtest?

I got errors with Memtest86- but with Memtest86+ I haven't had any errors so far?

Why would that be so ? This is getting confusing with 2 versions of memtest...

Rofl...

Yes someone finally appreciated that humor.

Kingston is a tried and true supplier of RAM. If you're so concerned, contact them and see about replacement. Supposedly they've got great service.

I don't like how you singled out the seller like that. I've ordered from them before and they have always been fine with me. It can happen with any online seller like newegg, mwave, etc.

Kingston is sold by a lot of different sellers.

LOL.

I do love peoples analysis of a product line from a small sample, 1 unit is bad therefore 1,000,000 units are bad.

Not having a go at this thread in particular, just something I've noticed in general.

Hit F12 during startup and manually select the CDROM drive. Also make sure you are actually burning the image. Select "Burn Image" in your burning program. If you are just copying the iso to a CD then it won't work.

I have updated the heading of my post because I did not intend to spot out Memory4Less as the contributor of this problem.

I have ran the memory through memtest86+ v1.55 for 21 passes with 0 errors, but with the regular memtest86 I receive multiple errors.

I can't believe no-one has made any suggestions as why these two programs are so different in detecting the errors...

See now that's funny.

I believe the newer version is more compatible (can detect the newer 533MHz Dothans) or something to that effect. There are other posts about this, but I don't recall what exactly was said. So.. do a searh!
