Laptop Freezing Up

Thought I had this problem solved a while ago, but it started up again.

Anyways, my Dell has been locking up in windows XP pro randomly lately. The mouse and typing all lagged and delayed, explorer.exe using about 25%-50% of the CPU.

Was thinking maybe it is just something with Windows XP Pro install, and that I should just simply reinstall.

Is there anything else that could be causing this?

Well thanks. That really was going above and beyond.

No real help on those forums sadly.

I'm thinking of ordering more ram for it and seeing if that has any affect too. But I doubt it, these random lock-ups are kinda annoying, but easily solved by a re-boot, which makes me believe it is not overheating.
