I got mine earlier in the week and just LOVE it. Screen is perfect, wireless network at home works flawlessly, battery lasts forever (>5 hours!!)...it's perfect. I was a bit concerned about the size/weight because I take it to school and work daily, but it's very portable in my opinion. It did have a lot of bloatware on it and I was surprised at how long it took to fully boot initially, but after removing all the junk and paring down my startup (in msconfig) things got much better.

I also got a Timbuk2 Messenger XL Laptop bag that fits the 6000D very nicely. It has plently of room for the power adapter, two textbooks and a small notebook.

from the day i orderd to the day it arrived at my door took 6 days, not counting the weekends.
From order date to receipt was 6 days. It went through Order Processing, Pre-prod., Kitting, building, and test in about 8 hours and then sat in the boxing stage for 3 days. I did an on-line order chat session asking WTF and they upgraded to next day air for free.

My system: 2.0GHz, 15.4WUXGA, 1GB RAM, DVD+/-RW, 8X, SONY, Upgraded battery, CARD (CIRCUIT), GRAPHICS, 128MB, HARD DRIVE, 60GB, 9.5MM, 4.2K, FUJITSU, NETWORK, MINI PCI CARD, INTEL2915.

Paid right around $1800 with the three year next business day warranty.

Cubby was a name someone gave me for a football pool and it stuck. I'm a CU Buffs fan and the guy picked Cubby??

6000d - got it yesterday

Got mine yesterday. It was 6 days, including the weekend. Pretty good service, as far as I can tell. I'm curious, my order originated from Nashville (TN) thru UPS. Any clue as to why?

Inspiron 6000
Centrino 730, 512M
60G, WSXGA+
9 Cell, XP Home

get the gig 1 dimm, it isnt that much more and allows for upgrades later. The date is an estimate, mine got here on the day it said it would be shipped. ordered on a sat and got it a week and 3 days later. You will want to upgrade the mem right when u get it if your used to anything more than 256mb, the basic is just not enough and it slows stuff down.

My 6000D is a fine PC. I've had it 'bout 2 months. I added a second 512 stick from Crucial shortly after it arrived.
Here's some other stuff I frosted the cake with:
Booq Viper L sleeve http://www.booqbags.com/Detail.bok?no=98 (A great padded slip case for short trips. Very nice fit, great protection, but not alot of bulk.)
Xbrand Lap Desk http://www.kinesis-ergo.com/ (APC sells these too - it allows unrestricted ventilation + mouse surface if you want to fold it out. It's sized perfectly for the 6000.)
Good luck with your new 6000!

I recieved mine yesterday : 2 ghz, 2 gb 533 mhz ram, 120 mb X300, WUXGA, 60 GB 7200 rpm, etc. It's really awesome. I love having a laptop over my desktop. I can be much more mobile now. The downside is that I haven't done anything else but go to school and use the computer, so I have no life. Otherwise, it is fairly awesome.

yea i got the 1.6 533 model. going to buy a 2.0 chip when prices come down. spent 980$ even, ordered my 1gb transcend ram from the egg today. do you find it heavy or bulky? hows the screen? i got the Sxga one, i thought the ultra would just be too small for me.

The so-called "boxing" stage is when the computer is en route from Malaysia to the U.S. - The tracking always starts in Nashville because thats where they go after they reach the U.S. and from there they go to the end user.
