sure. no prob. I uninstalled it yesterday thinking "I won't need to run any benchmarks anymore". Shows what I know. Give me a couple minutes to re-download and install...

alright, i have to do the same... and I have to get out of bed and plug it into the wall

Argh! It went to standby and it wont resume...
timre to restart that download at 260kbps
post #23 of 49
*sigh* this may take more than a couple minutes. 3DMark05 is 290 MB, and at the moment, I'm downloading it at 112 kb/sec. Comcast has a 3 Mbps download speed. Why can't I take advantage of it??? Stupid Comcast...

Really?!? I have comcast as well... thast strange... what kind of modem do you have? are you in a busy city where a lot of people could be drawing off of your speed?

I live in the Twin Cities in Minnesota, so it's possible. Aux temp goes up to 76 when playing Myst 3
still downloading...

I've never played myst 3... so I wouldn't know how to compare it to CS source. Eh... we'll find out shortly

:edit:
there is an error when i alt tab out of mark05 to see the temp.... but when I alt tabed out of it... I don't think it was that hot. Not sure....

Guess i'll have to wait for someone with Counter Strike Source to see wahts goin' on

Let me know how your adventure with mark 05 goes
post #27 of 49
while I'm waiting, I've noticed that there are 4 cooling fans that register with Everest: chassis (the one that's always on, even though it says CPU when it's the only one), CPU, system, and power supply

Alright... well since the 3dMark05 wasn't working how I wanted it too... i ran the video stress test on Counter Strike Source... and it only got as hott as 73...

I may also know the answer... When I went to rick about this... he said the battery being in the notebook does something with the power distibution and increases the temperature. Well its plugged into the wall right now... but it is also charging the battery because i ran it down to about 30%. That may explain the temp that isn't crazy high. I'll retest it again once it is at full battery, then i'll test it without the battery.

I'll prob be doing this in the morning because I want to TRY to get to sleep at a normal hour... so i'll repost in the morning. Thanks for your help rob... you're the man... Did i mention i liked your review on notebookreview.com *wink* thanks again

okay, the max temperatures while running 3DMark05:
Motherboard: 51 C
CPU: 58 C (undervolted)
Aux: 95 C (after the 2nd test. it got lower after that)
Seagate HD: 42 C

p.s.: running 3 other main programs and several others in the system tray in addition to 3DMark05 makes the benchmark terrible! (1660 overclocked)

Well that is a relief... I guess higher temps on the AUX area is normal... it just scared the f*ck out of me when I saw that high number... esspecially since it has been restarting every now and then. You get a *high five* I can now sleep a little easier. Thanks haha

sleep well. good night! (and you're welcome!)
those temp seems right except for GPU
did u overclock ur video card?

when i get to full load.. i get to about ~68 degrees for CPU which is reasonable
it is scary tho if its over 70 degrees.. hmmm for anything
but 30 more than the CPU?!?! wonder how hot those p4m run? 88 degreeS?
someone wanna try checking the aux temp at different video clock speeds? if the temp varies with clock speeds then the aux temp probably correlates with GPU temp... i'm too lazy to do this myself

Any tried applying AC5 on the GPU? I was pondering about it but haven't tried. Only did it on the CPU.

Are you running the 76.50? Is the 71.92 THAT inefficient that the temps are THAT much higher? I'm still waiting on rick's asus guys to see what they have to say.
