Dancing LEDs

I just received my XPS 2 - Great laptop !

I played a little bit with the LEDs and wanted to share this with you. I created a small program that you can download from
this web site

Be warned, it will make your XPS 2 leds shine !

This is of course an experimental program, so use **at your own risk**. I only tried it on my XPS 2 so it might not work on other computers.

Also, thanks to all of you for all the insights that helped me configure this laptop. I also discovered the 35% coupon here

I ordered it on May 11 (with a 80GB 7200rpm) and received it yesterday (May 17). The screen is a Samsung, not fantastic but good. I think it is better for me since I am doing a lot of programming.

Hehe, it's in the TODO list

RamIt: It probably needs QuickSet to be installed. If QuickSet works then the demo should also work.

Lol great work, thanks!

Pretty cool! Next step is to integrate it as a winamp plugin.
What does it do? I'm very curious but stuck at work and my xps is at home.

Thanks

That is so cool. Very good work.

Post a video!!!

It makes the LEDs blink at different times and change colors. Pretty cool. Looks sorta like my underbody kit on my car, haha. I agree, a plugin for Winamp would be cool. Have them pulse to the music???
Can the blink rate, intensity and colour be modified? Sounds interesting so far.

Sweet program.

where did you find the API?
what language did you make the program in?

Seval of us geeky guys aroudn the office were talking about how cool it wold be to make my XPS2 lights blink to music or do other cool stuff.

The next step.....
In eq there was a log file for every bit of data which people could parse to do thinks like real time DPS calculations.

I play wow, i dont know if such a file exists, but it would be sweet if we could make a simple app that would make the lights green normally, red when in combat, and blink when getting attacked. I am sure other wow players could think of other things like blinking purple when a big nuke goes off.

I would be more than happy to help work on such a project.

Or turn yellow when you have new email, or green if the stock market is going up and red for down.

Daddy that WoW thought would be so cool when I have to turn down the volume after the kids are in bed and I am not paying as much attention as I should.

Cant wait to get home and download this!

I think Dell is screwing with me. I ordered mine that day and it hasn't even begun building.
