New Synaptics Driver, Mozilla

Thread Starter
Hey all,

For those who have the Z71v and use Firefox there is a new mouse driver that fixes the taskpad bug.

http://www.synaptics.com/support/drive.cfm

I personally use an external mouse but use my taskpad when I don't feel like breaking out all the gear.

Enjoy.

If you didn't install the touchpoint driver that came with the Z71V originally, you shouldnot have any problem at all. At least that is what I did and mine is working fine in all applications I am using including firefox.

It's not just the z71v that has this problem - my HP nx8220 uses the synaptics touchpad and the scrolling feature doesn't work with firefox - I'm just going to check out this one & seee if that works!

Nice find OP!

This is the first Synaptics driver I've tried that actually supports both vertical AND horizontal scrolling in Firefox!

Great!
I have been pushing Synaptics for a new driver for a while now - my LGLW70 also wouldn't scroll with Firefox - now it's prefect!
Thanks Synaptics! :-)

How is the trackpad response speed? I have an Acer 8104 and the pad is very slow, do you think moving to these new drivers might do the trick?

this driver rocks... the mouse icon doesn't turn into that strange looking symbole while useing the scroll bar anymore

Great find!

This new driver fixes the Synaptics touchpad + Firefox scrolling problems on the Acer Ferrari series as well

Hmm, now another problem - the new driver gets screwed up when coming out of standy/hibernate mode - the 'tap' setting has to be re-enabled...
:-(

When I try installing the latest version it gives me a Severe - Can't Run Autoinstall - and stops installing there! What should I do? I have Intellipoint 5.2 and the previous version of Synaptics worked fine with it!

Hmm, then I think I'll stick with v8.0.6.02May05 as that works fine with Firefox (and any other app so far.)
