Very poor 3DMark 2003 scores....bad memory?

I have read the thread about the 3dmark 2003 scores and most people are getting around 3000 marks.
I have tried this myself with the 330 patch and I am only getting 1400 which is half that!!!

Does this mean I have bad memory?
I have also tried the memory test from Microsoft and did the standard tests which was ok but when I did the extended tests it took forever to do test 7 which then did it again when it finished the test instead of going to test 8.

I really think this is a memory problem as for a really high spec system this seems to run like a lame dog sometimes.

What settings do you people run the tests at for 3dmark?
What resolution as well?

I can get any info from the exported excel sheet if needed.
Thanks

I run 3Dmark2003 at default settings with 1024x768. My open gl and direct 3D are also at balanced default settings. However with Powerstrip I run engine at 398 and memory at 290.

Further testing:

I dropped the settings in advanced properties to performance from quality for both DirectX and OpenGL and got 3059 marks.

Using powerstrip I upped the memory to 288 and the engine to 388 then ran the test again and got 3397 marks.

Although this is all good surely I should get these scores with the setting more towards quality?

I don't think so. Most people benchmark their systems with all of the windows features on "performance".

Ahh I see. I didn't know that.
Maybe there is nowt wrong after all then.

I just set the DirectX and OpenGL back to balanced and only lost 50 marks.
Score 3346 with an overclocked card.

Thats a good score. Most people are getting about 3000 to 3200 without overclocking. Here is a link where everyone posted their 3dmark03 scores.

Just looking for that thread. Must of read my mind!

Only thing that worries me now though is the memory test I did.

Moezy: Artifical tests tend to produce artifial errors.

The BEST test for your system? You. Use your computer as you would if you didnt suspect errors. If you dont see problems, you dont have any. Those artifical tests normally push the system far pasts its limits, and thus produces errors. But, these errors would never show up in normal use.

Just something to keep in mind...
