Ok so I mentioned in another post I had my system board replaced not to long ago things should be good right? A little more history, unfortunately I tend to be a great conductor of static electricity. Being a PC technician this is your worst nightmare but I take the usual precautions. Anyway before I sent my laptop in sometimes when plugging in the expansion base connector to my LT I would get a shock from part of the connector. Luckily nothing ever came of it and I just took care not to touch it. Well yesterday I was working on a PC for work and I needed to transfer some NIC drivers so I pop my usb flash drive into my laptop after downloading. My finger brushed one of the other usb ports as I plugged in my thumb drive and...shocked me! display went blank and after a second it rebooted. Came back up this time i went to plug in the thumb and it went black a second time...i had to do a hard shutdown and tried a third time and had no issues. I love this laptop but these little things are bugging the heck out of me. Maybe its just me and my issue with static electricity but I would think that there would protection built into these laptops (such as a ground) to prevent anything like this from happening in the event of static electricity coming in contact with external parts.
