My order was shipped out on 5/18/05 It is coming from Florida to Michigan with normal group service. The sched. delivery date is 5/24/05. I was wondering if anyone got theirs by suprise on a earlier date. I cant wait for my system to get here.

How fast is FedEx delivery?

mine shipped from Florida on the 16th, and arrived the 19th..I live near chicago, so we are about the same distance away..
figure best case is 3 business days, since they pretend Saturday and Sunday the world stops spinning!
I bet you get it the 23rd....

Mine is arriving by mule train. It'll be 6 days from AW ship to delivery in Phoenix on Monday.

I hate FedEx Ground almost as much as UPS Ground. I don't buy the explanation that the packages don't get bounced/dropped as much via ground - I return 10X more damaged ground shipments from FedEx, UPS, etc. received at work than by air.

I think it's more accurate to say that it 's simply a way AW can offer the customer free shipping (note to self: nothing is "free") and not cut too deep into the profit margin.

How fast is FedEx delivery?
FedEx ground will probably deliver on the 24th - can't see them moving any faster 'specially since they don't deliver on Mondays.

Decay - Mule train! That explains it!

Thinking my machine would arrive during the week, I had it delivered to my office. Well, get this, they tried to deliver it Saturday evening at 7:45PM and lo and behold - the office was closed (duh!). Now I hear (above) that the mules don't run on Mondays? Guess it'll be an 8 day delivery...

Decay - If it's being delivered by FedEx Home Delivery Mule Service, you're stuck with an 8-day delivery. What a pain!

Oh my god! are you surious they dont deliver on mondays? Damn...... that means i have to wait two more days!!! that makes me a little unhappy.

Well, checking the FedEx Tracking details, it says my shipment went from the sort facility in PHOENIX, AZ on 5/20 to the PHOENIX - HD, AZ sort facility on 5/21. I guess "HD" means Home Delivery, not Hyper-Drive, so I'm screwed.

Home delievery to my job - damn, everyone kids me that my office is my home, but this is ridiculous. I'm just glad this didn't happen on my first AW order (2nd-day Air).

BTW, now that my shipment has been passed around like a cheap whore, from one dock to the next, in and out of trucks, a failed delivery, only to sit on the dock from Saturday night until Tuesday morning, am I still supposed to believe this mode of shipment is going to make this delivery "safer" than 2-day air? Yeaaaahhhh..... I hope it's stored in air conditioning because it's supposed to be 111 degrees in Phoenix on Monday

Well, my ship(ment) finally came in. I opened the cpu box, and as expected, all the parts were warm to the touch. Thank god the case is mostly metal and not cheap plastic. Hopefully the BenQ made it OK. More to tell once I get it all unpacked, etc.

That's what I get for living in hell

So far so good - the benches are 1-2% better out of the box than my first unit - P4/HT CPU is 3.6GHz vs 3.4 GHz, and the newer 6800 Ultra is a BFG. Since these aren't gaming rigs, I won't bother over-clocking them.

Second First Impressions:

Negatives:
I thought the cable routing was a little sloppy this time:
  • The graphics card power cables were sandwiched between the card and the side case grill, so I had an awesome view of a molex connector
  • The HDD power cable was squashed down on top of the CPU heatsink (heatpipe) manifold - not good if it gets too hot
  • Airflow to the heatpipe heatsink fan was blocked by other cables
  • Lifting the 30 lb Klipsch subwoofer dropped a 3rd testicle
  • The mousepad didn't come in a nifty tin case like the last one did. Waaaahh! I want a refund! Waaaahh!

Playing assembly tech and popping out the vid card and re-routing some of the cables did the trick. Now she's purty inside. (Note to AW: You may send my paycheck to my shipping address)

Positives:
  • The power button works better on this case than the other
  • The stealth cover on the DVD burner opens and closes smoother
  • AlienGuise wasn't included
  • Two 20.1" Benqs on the desk look better than one
