But I can tell you that backlight brightness seems to be the key. The brighter LG LCDs look OK, but the darker ones look grainier and grayer.
Same goes for the Samsung. The brighter the backlight, the better it looks, although the Samsungs do seem to suffer more from light leakage. I agree with the people who say the leakage decreases with time, but it's pretty slow and subtle.
