Latitude D505 slow to connect wirelessly

Thread Starter
Mom's work laptop does not connect to my home wireless network as quickly as I think it should. All of the tray icons load except her wired connection, wireless connection and Dell Wireless signal strength. These icons load after about 2-3 minutes after startup.

Until these icons load, I cannot make it access the internet, or any other computer on my home network.

Any help is appreciated, but a reformat is not an option, because the laptop belongs to mom's company and contains work specific software. Hopefully, it's a very simple fix. Thanks.

Try deleting things that automatically are launched on start up.

Also, I believe when you first boot, the system will try to establish a wireless connection before it'll show those icons and shows them only after trying. To speed this process up, delete the networks that the system automatically tries to connect to: Wireless Network Connection Properties->Wireless Networks tab->Preferred networks->delete all networks except the one in your home
