My 9300's 40GB 80GN just died. Well I had it in my old eMachines 6805 since I'd swapped my 7K60 out of there and into the 9300. But, the 80GN died today. Some crazy mechanical failure. It just grinds and clicks when it powers up and the BIOS doesn't even see it usually. Hitachi Drive Fitness Tool doesn't even see it, probably because the BIOS doesn't either.
So I called Dell and get to way till Wednesday or so for a new drive. This reminded me of the fact that my sister's 6805's drive died after 3 months. I believe that was also a Hitachi. My 7K60 has been trouble free for over a year though....
