A bad lightning storm somehow blew my 100 speed switch, a net card on a computer that is 300 ft away (wire underground connected to the switch)
EVEN WORSE. My $2000 notebook was OFF. The powersupply was plugged in, and I think I just figured out that the network was probably the culprit. Since it got the switch, a net card, and my notebook.
MY BIG QUESTION: Based on the following symptoms of this notebook, what would you say I should do.
I can turn it on, and all the hardware (HD for a couple secs), DVD drive opens, fans turn on, and lights. Only problem is, there is no bootup or any screen activity whatsoever.
Since the surge probably came through the Cat5 network cable, what would it damage in a notebook that is turned off? Would it maybe have affected my data?
Thanks for the help. I'm new to this forum.
