Graphics Card Choice

Well, I'm looking a buying a laptop for school, but I want one that I can still play strategy games on (Upcoming Civ. IV) and RPGs (Both online, like Guildwars, and offline). Which card is better for me, the 64 MB DDR ATI Mobility RADEON 9000 4X AGP or the 128MB DDR ATI's MOBILITY RADEON X300 PCI Express x16 Graphics? Basicall, a Dell i6000 versus a Dell i600m. Any ideas, or maybe suggestions for other computers? Price range is around $1500. Thanks!

for 1500...get u an i9300 from the refurb center for about 1200-1500 (varies on the system specs) but u can get the go6800 256mb video and a 17" widescreen...but if ur not into gaming hardcore...just get the i6000 with 128mb x300. price totalled out with 512 ram is about 1345 i have a small business account with dell and a 25% off coupon right now. so if u want one and price it out i'll order it and u can paypal me the money. All depending on ur location and ammount of interest

HP Compaq nc8230 is an excellent choice for $1549. It comes with 64 MB X600 and a 3-year warranty. $1849 model isn't bad either, as it gets you a WSXGA+ screen, 1 GB memory, etc.

Well, I might be able to afford a little more. Right now I'm looking at an i9300 with 1.73 Pentium M, 1 GB Ram, 80 GB Harddrive, and a 256MB NVIDA® GeForce™ Go 6800. After the special rebate, which I hope they'll launch again close to August, comes to right at $1500. Is that a decent deal?

That would be a very decent deal in my opinion.

No. dont do it. I have configured a 9300 with a 1.86pm, 1.25gig ram, 256 6800, cdrw, blue quicksnap for under $1500. Buy the ram from newegg instead of dell. That way you can get more/better things for less and still get more ram than you would from dell.

the x300 will give be....

slightly better(only noticeable in certain games)..if you want better battery life and a slimmer and lighter system the 600 would be the better choice, I'm able to run multiplayer Call of Duty on my 600m with 34 people on the server!!

woah, Lawson, is Lawson your first name or last name? It's my first name, and where I come from, that's a very un-common name. Nice to meet ya :-).
