White Screen coming up on my XPS 2 - Page 5

They also have the 77.62 version now.

I spoke too soon. I'm crashing constantly on all games (BF2, Far Cry, and all Source Engine games) same as what was happening before. This is on a system reformatted 2 days ago with the 77.62 drivers installed.

I'm contacting Dell. I've had enough of this.

EDIT: It seems my Centrino/Intel wireless card is to blame.
EDIT 2: Nevermind, it crashed AGAIN on a wired connection.

SH*T!@!# I got my FIRST white screen, and it was when I was playing CSS for about 2 hours. I've never played source for this long before. I guess it has to do with CSS. I'll update to 77.62 and see what happens.

Hmm I suspected this. Ive been running tests with my friend who owns the 9300 thats in my sig now basically weve been barraging driver sets and such to see whats causing what. Whats interesting to know is that the 6800 Ultra clocks down when the ceiling temperature hits 93C where as the 6800 vanilla hits as high as 101 and then shuts down. The problem is that the clock down occurs only in certain programs and so far WoW, Warcraft 3, Assorted Benchmarking tools is some to name. Now I havnt whitescreened in over 3 weeks but i have been bluescreening. The bluescreens upon further investigation led to something very VERY odd... Sound Card Driver when I looked at the driver properties in both our systems I noticed we both had the Sigmatel drivers from 11/2004! Dell regularly updates these drivers and there was one from 5/2005 available which we updated so since then the bluescreens related to videocard and soundcard drivers have stopped. As far as actual drivers to use my friend is intent to sticking with his 77.x4 drivers dell supplies on there website dated 7/6/2005 where as ive been now using the 80.x0 drivers since they came out. More testing also came in when we tried something basic which datchison did.. we set the card to balanced mode and in this mode there has yet to be any kind of crashing so really we could point fingers to what COULD be causing the problems but theres nothing solid other than the fact that it could be temperature related. Now my friend is using the antec laptop cooler which is supplying cool air below where the ram, video card, and battery sits with good results so far. we'll update as we progress.

You said you set the card to balance mode?

What does that mean, that the 3d and 2d clocks are equal now?

I was reading in a diff forum, that the reason the 6800 would whitescreen/reboot was because of the differing speeds between the 3d and 2d core speeds. And when it switched between 2d to 3d sometimes it would "confuse" the card (not my words here). So they suggested setting both core speeds to 450mhz, but then again on our GO cards we can only go up to 200mhz, at least on power strip.

Do you think they were on to something?

Sometimes when I shut down or reboot right before the screen goes off I get a very brief white screen...thats not this is it?

I had this problem while playing CS:S and I downloaded the drivers from Dell's support site and installed them, and CS played just fine. Don't want to jynx it tho.
