Ya know, its odd, mine says it shipped and UPS says its 2 packages that are 3.4lbs. Makes me wonder if my laptop is really on its way or not.

Did anyone else's overnighted laptops come via Fedex Overnight instead of UPS? Just thought that was interesting...

I just got an email stating that my order will not be able to ship now til the on or before the 17th of this month. Which just blows my mind.....it has already been build and is in the testing stage......wtf?

Edit....

Just got a call back. The reason for the delay is NOT the hard drive. Amazing as it might seem the backorder is on the LCD. Weirdness continues.

I got my overnight 9300 from fedex too, i also ordered another a week later because the first one was delayed so i figured i'd keep witch ever one showed up first and that was 2-day shipping and came via ups.

Well at least it appears that Dell feels bad for the delay on my order. That and I seem to have a sympathetic CSR. Here is the list of stuff that I have gotten from them....unsolicited of course.....

Next day shipping upgrade (big whoop)
Free Logitech MX518 Gaming Mouse
Up to $120 purchase from the Dell website
Free Leather XPS G2 carrying case

All that and still no laptop. Ho hum. The wait continues.

Finally Shipped.

I even got another "Delayed" email this morning, saying I must respond by the 13th or its cancelled. Then checked the status online, and it was shipped. lol

Well it looks like it shipped yesterday. I recieved about five emails this morning from Dell saying that it was on the way as well as the stuff that they offered to me for free. It should be here this morning since it was overnight shipping so we will see.

But it is on its way....whoo hoo!

All I can say is WOW! By far the best laptop I've ever had. Absolutely perfect screen, and it's a Samsung. No sparkle and no dead pixels. I'm in the process of downloading all drivers. I believe that intel has new version of drivers for the wireless and chipset from Dell's site. I was hoping for the NEC burner but have a Sony instead. I'll test that out a bit later to see if I have any issues with the media I use. For this weekend I'll be doing a clean install and load my software. If you have issues with color on your screen, use the NVidia properties to adjust intensity and gamma, it worked great for me.

TREV, what settings for adjusting the display did you use? The ones that are posted in these forums?

I used a few from this forum (color profiles), but as I played around, I found that it was more of a personal prefernce. I made sure I had a good quality backgound (www.wincustomize.com ?)to look at to see how the changes varied and then settled on something that I liked.
I have the Dell 20.1" widescreen that I have setup real nice so I decided to use the same wallpaper. At first the XPS screen looked washed and dull, but then I got into the NVidia color correction setting and was able to match it up fairly well.

Just play with it and find something you like and stick with it.

How about typing in what settings you came up with?

Oh ya. Fedex here decided to deliver at 10 in the morning when Im at work. So I have to wait till 6pm to go pick it up at the Fedex station.

You got the 80GB 7.2. They must of had more of them in stock. lol.

Ya it has been a big process. Now Fedex screws me by trying to deliver early. lol. I couldnt call off work today either, that sucked.

For Digital Vibrance I have set it one over from left or second bar.
Brightness 96%
Contrast 105%
gamma .89

Shoman -- how do you tell which screen you have? I've got light leakage at the bottom, no sparkles, otherwise looks good. I'm hoping Ive got the LG, where's the part number??
