I don't trust the automated system... it said mine was in the build stage for a week and a half. Then on Monday it went through the kitting, building, and testing stages and is currently in boxing. I think the online version is more believable than the phone one.

I spoke to our Dell Account Manager for small business regarding the accuracy between Phone and Online status. They stated that the phone is more accurate. Then again, who knows.

I hope that's not true. My order doesn't exist according to their phone system.

Well I checked to status of my order today. Via phone, my order has been in the build stage for two days. When I check the web order status, it is still in pre-production with a ship date that is set for the 26th. I tend to say that both systems suck!

I have already; he just said some part was on backorder. I asked for the part to see if I could upgrade or downgrade it to make it go faster, but he refused to tell me. Now the shipping date is from 5/11 to 6/3.

I'll tell you why they could not give you a part number, I placed my order on the 11th. Anyway...after wasting my time with their web status and automated phone status I also decided to call ask a live body what was the status on my order? It's suppose to ship on the 26th. I was told that they were waiting to install some software. One thing that pisses me off more than anything is when someone is telling me something that I know is an outright lie. SOFTWARE!!!, come on we all know that all the drives are imaged to some degree. I'm sorry, were out of MS XP Pro. Lets face it, I do like DELL products, but there custmer service is by far the worst out there. You would think that Michael Dell himself would get a clue as to where his business is going to go if he doesn't get his customer service in shape. Anyway they couldn't even get me a possible ship date. Call back in three days and don't forget to fill out our servey about our great tech support....Thank you.

I am one of the many that is in the holding pattern from the May 11th order frenzy. One of the techs that I talked to about a week ago, they said that the holdup was specifically the hard drive. I ordered one of the 100GB 72K's. I asked about how some orders got shipped and some others didn't and the reply was that different sections have accessibility to certain parts easier then others. (Whatever that meant.)

I will call in to the 800 order checking number to find out where my order is sometime tomorrow afternoon. If it is still stuck then I will probably email tech support. I give up on the chat, it seems like after every question and answer I get the "Please hold for 2-3 minutes while I look this up.". I would rather my time not be hijacked by a chat. Let them get back to me via email.

I am not in any rush to receive my new XPS, but I wouldn't mind having it for the long weekend. (I got my shipping bumped up to free next day, who knows how that happened.)

It probably doesn't cost them anything to upgrade the shipping. Alot of others have received some pretty decent money back or % off coupons. That I can imagine can get expensive. Although if your price is high to begin with...it isn't that much of a loss.
