For WXGA+, LG is best. I've seen 2 with the Samsung and 4 with the LG and LG was always better.

They both suck.

But I like my Samsung over the previous LG's. I can see a grid for Unreal Ed better on the Samsung.

My 2cents worth......

I have been very unhappy with either brand so I don't have a screen anymore.

I replaced my videocard with a neural cortex encoder and now my laptop plugs right into my brain. Now the only light leakage comes from the two holes in my ears and the only sparlkes I see are when I stub my toe.

If I plug my ears to avoid light leakage, my soundcard mysteriously stops working.....

Ok guys, I have read many of these posts since I ordered my laptop on March 31st. I was afraid my screen was going to be complete, utter crap. I unboxed it and found I had an LG. People were complaining that the lg sparkled and the colors were off. A few complained that the samsung had light leakage issues. Well guess what - my only complaint with the LG is actually light leakage. And it's not bad.

If you are contemplating ordering one of these screens, do yourself a favor and go to a retail store and look at the laptop displays. I work at one, I look at them every day. In the bright store lighting, you should not see the backlight shining through a black screen. Look at a sony for an example of what one SHOULD look like. Then go find yourself an hp DV1000 series lappy and look at that screen. Lots of light leakage. The dell is right in the middle of these two screens. Not impressive, but not depressing. Better than I expected when everyone on the screen threads are complaining.

My advice to anyone who is unsure of their screen: be happy with it, samsung or LG. Neither is a bad screen. the closest thing you can get to an xps2 or 9300, specwise, with a better screen is either a Clevo d900t clone (sager 9880, alienware 7700) for double the price, or a sony vgn-a series which is pretty but lacks the horsepower and video card of the dell models. Oh, and they're still sinfully expensive.

After a bit of thinking, I've decided that I'm actually content with my Samsung. No, it isn't perfect (there is a noticable amount of light leakage at the bottom), but I know that if I try to get something better, I might end up with something worse instead.

In the end, it's not worth my trouble to bring a tech in just to replace the screen -- especially if I don't like the replacement (if it's the LG, for instance).

I have the LG with light leakage from the bottom and a dark shadow from the right bottom near the clock on the taskbar. It is not perfect, but I have not asked for a replacement. In everyday usage it is not a problem.

And therefore, the Samsung is better, unless you get one of the ones that have bad light leakage, and that bothers you.

I am very happy with my Samsung. It did have some light leakage, but after 2 weeks it seems to be going away...very light amount now.. hardly noticeable. All my family and friends drool over it..nothing but compliments
