Hi,
I finally went out and bought 2 1GB SODIMMS and put them in my 8887. Both of them work individually as 1GB of RAM. Together or one of them with a 512MB SODIMM still ends up giving me 1GB of RAM
The PC Torque web site has 1GB PC-2100 and says that it is for the 8886. BAE has a Tempest laptop based on the Clevo 888E that supports 2GB. So I thought that I my earlier claims were validated.
My best guess now is that the BIOS is limited to only recognize 1GB. Any one know of a Sager/Clevo contact who knows the internals of the BIOS and can get this artificial limitation corrected?
I hate to even think about asking, but does anyone have a pointer to a BIOS debugger, disassembler or hacker that identify the bits to flip to change the maximum usable RAM to the machines physical limit of 2GB?
Thanks
B

Windows XP and 2000 only see what the BIOS reports. Disabling /fastdetect and adding /maxmem=2048 in the boot.ini file did not change things. Are there any other boot settings I might want to try?
