Best Specd $2300 notebook

hey evry one,

iam soon to purchase my first ever notebook, and as the thread states i have a budget of 2300USD, i cant make up my mind with whcih 1 to select between the 9300 and the Gen2, id prefer the Gen2 Obviously as im a gamer, but im lookin for the fastest rig in general with this budget. Rams can be excluded from the criteria as i plan to buy them seperately.

Please help out and excuse my umm err, laziness if u might want to call it that. But im really busy with examinations and i need to hand over this information Urgently to my Uncle in the US who will be purchasing it for me as i am a non US resident.

Lastly, as i stated im a non us resident, so by the time i get my hands on the Notebook, the 21 day return period is likely to have passed, if my screen or something else has a flaw like a few dead pixels or something, will i still be able to have my laptop exchanged through my warranty, or would i need complete care

Thank You
Ali

you get a 1 year ltd warranty, so you'll be able to trade it in.

As far as I know for $2300 your choice is basically a really souped up 9300 or a standard XPS2... I would advise waiting for the good or great coupon deals as well to get more bang for the buck. Like the $600 off 1500, or $750 off 1999 are common enough...that way you can spec out a $3000 xps2 for example and get it down to 2300 with coupons...

I second that, I got mine for under $2400 after using the 35 percent off coupon and installing the RAM myself.

a high specd XPS goes outa my budget!, would it be better to get a totally souped up 9300 instead?

also, what are the chances of a 35% off coupon coming rnd, cuz that way i can configure a kikass XpsGen2 within the budget, cuz for the more expensive items, the % coupons r better then the $ coupons

Dont make the mistake I made, by selecting the Intel 2200 instead of the new Intel 2915, I still feel Dumb. Also getting XP Pro is uneccesary, I know this now!

If you like the faster GPU and feel you need it, and if you like the xps2's pretty lights (so unecessary) then get it and dont ask any other questions.

Also, Btw, I'm a gamer too, not hardcore FPS games, but MMORPG and other such rpg's. I feel that the 6800 (Non-ultra) will do fine for the future. All I'm really waiting for is Starcraft 2. I am so confident with my 9300.

I guess I dont understand this statement. What is wrong with the 2200? I have never came in to contact with an ieee802.11a network. I can see if maybe your work used this infrastructure, but mine doesnt.

I got in on the 35% off deal and it was 35% off everything I added, so I even purchased MS Office!

Well, my point is that the 2200 is the old version of the 2915 which also supports 802.11a, which you obviously knew, thats all...nothing more. I just happend to make that mistake.

what are the chances of a new 35% off coupon? will it be in before like 10th of june?

also, shud i look into the outlet?

I would say that if you think you are a Gamer - you only have 1 option - the ULTRA. You are talking 3000 vs 5 to 6000 3dmark's. Doom 3 is night and day different on a 9300 vs the XPS2 as I have tested first hand. Now - if you could upgrade the 9300 at a later date to the ULTRA - that might be a choice - but from the posts I have read its not workable...

I'd wait it out for a 35 percent - you are correct the % off coupons are usually the best deal going. I picked up my first xps2 right before the 35 percent and I called when the coupon came out ( I was only on day 7 of my 21 day return policy) and they credited 800 back to my credit card which ended up being 1800 for a loaded xps2 :-).

When will they have the next 35% coupon - god only knows :-) Best of Luck.

Thnx for the reply man, i guess ill just have to wait it out, though i found sum kikass deals on the outlet, is the outlet worth it?

are the rufrb 1s fixed before they are sold? like for example if 1 of the laptops returned to the outlet had a dead pixel, would the dead pixel still be there if some 1 orderd it!

i couldnt get a GREAT deal, but $1900 for an xps isint bad either now, is it?

though i could get a new 1 wit a lil lesser specz with a 35% coupon! Decisions Decisions :S
