S360 wont cost you 1800? It would cost you like 1300 or less if you find the right one.

I am negotiating a deal with a seller to give me a new, factory sealed S360P for 1380 shipped to me. He said yes to it last night, but I was asleep. Lets see if the deal is still on the table tonight.

If you want to go the 360 and do the Bluetooth mod, you can count me in as wanting one of every part you need. :P

Where did you get that deal? Don't tell me he is in Aus...

Nice, as for the bluetooth go, I rather go with the one with a built in bluetooth if it's $100-150 more.

But the 9300 will be really nice for only $1500, that's for sure.

Nah, he's on eBay US. That's the only place to get the 360.

He would have taken the deal last night (he offered it), but I don't know about now. Now I wish I had have stayed up. *sigh*

Lets hope he is still awake!

Also, I saw that you were interested in that 270. Here are my thoughts on it:
2x256 means you will have to buy two new 512 to get 1gig ram (360 only has 1x512 so it's easy to get 1gig)
40gig hard drive (compared to the 80gig in the 360)
Used (compared to a new one you can find on eBay)
It does have 3 batteries though, which are costly.

Yea, you're right. I just take a look back at ebay. 1.7Ghz and 2.0Ghz is not a huge deal. I think I will go with this idea of getting two laptops. And both of them are damn nice. X50 is great, but there are too much hassles...
You could probably sell your 1.7 for a decent price to people wanting to pin-mod as well.

The X50 can only get better. Hopefully when the new models are out you will be able to sell your other laptops and snatch one up.

I know this is off topic, but:
Are S270 and S360 the same if configed properly? The batt life should be the same too, right?
Yup. The s270 is basically the configurable s360. The s360 was better value for money when released on its own.

I just got a S360p from ebay for $1550 (yup, a little bit overpriced, but it's fine, I'm tired of waiting for the bid). I also ordered the parts for bluetooth (according to orbitalpunk website) and am thinking about buying the card upgrade to 2915ABG. They have two option on that card: 3A and 3B. Anyone happens to know what is being used for S360p? Let me know
post #149 of 162
Where and how much were the Bluetooth parts?

As for a/b/g, do you really need it? Spend the extra money and get yourself two of those 1gig sticks.
I am using the a channel around my house since I get so much interference with other neighbor's network. a channels seems to be the best so far.

Bluetooth parts summed up to be $129.82, after tax and shipping is $147.48. Pretty expensive!!!

I might buy a 2915ABG 3B to replace. It cost only around $40 shipped. Worth the money.

About the RAM, as far as it goes, I think 1.5 Gb will be plenty (I am running on 1Gb for both laptop and desktop, the only thing that have 2 Gb is the desktop for Photoshop). Will try to catch the 1Gb stick somewhere else other than swissbit (yup, funding problem again, paypal vs. Credit Card).

I am kinda nervous about openning up the laptop, never gone that far before on my I8600.
ps: I bought it from sonystyle store servicesales.sel.sony.com/web/productSearch.do found on the tutorial (I dont know any other stores for these kind of stuffs though)
Swissbit are the only people who make 172-pin 1 gig memory sticks. Why not get a relative to use their CC to buy the parts, and then you give them the money?
Oh, how was the shipping though? I found this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWA%3AIT&rd=1
I can pick it up at no further cost. And it's about $260. If the shipping for swissbit > 20 bucks, I'd rather not wait. Anyway, I should get my S360p soon (friday at max). Wonder how it would be (dead pixel and all the crap)
Shipping is like $20. At least it was to here in Australia.
No X700? Argghhh...

Why does every good laptop candidate always fall short on one feature.

Here's hoping the Asus W1 refresh with x700/128MB will finally get it right.
I just brought this for $1729.99 delivered to Australia without the ram: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=6774849349

I didn't have enough to buy it with the ram, so we struck a deal. I want to get 2 1gig sticks anyway.

I couldn't pass up 2 years with accidental warrenty, not to mention not having to do the BT mod myself. Hope it all works well!
Nice one. But it's refurbished anyway But 2 years on site service is a huge plus for that. I would have taken it if I were you. Indeed, it's a great deal
ps: without 2 sticks of RAM or one? You're gonna buy 2Gb anyway. Wow, 2.0Ghz and 2Gb RAM would kill your batt life even faster. I settle with 1.7Ghz since I won't notice the diff much. (owning a 1.8, I'm satisfied with it)
Without any ram.

I always have lots of windows open and am doing a multiple things at once, so I wanted as much ram as I could get.

Malaysian price

I was reading your posts.. I live in malaysia and here are the prices for malaysia. they dont have a lot of options though.

If any of you guys wants one i would be happy to help. Check my ebay account under "mahsuri". Just to think that the x50 sells for USD3000 was a total rip-off.
Here with the same spec was only USD2000.

BTW the ones which i saw in the shops was the greyish colour ones with buttons on the side.

So, Samsung X25/X50 doesn't really have X700? I downloaded a PDF containing the specs of all samsung notebooks, and this file says both models in question have X700 128MB or 64MB. Why is there a discrepency?

http://www.samsungcomputer.com/produ...m?SMSESSION=NO

If you head to this page and click on the 'To Compare All Models', X700 is mentioned in the PDF document.

Is this some future models that we're looking at here?

Ian
