Win x64 and the D700 (Sager 7620)

Alright folks, Need some help!
I just got my 180-day trial of Windows XP Pro x64 Edition. I have a Sager 7620, and I'm trying to load drivers for the bloody thing. But lets face it, they are hard to find. I am down to two that I just can't make work. The chipset driver itself, and the video card driver. The chipset I think I'll have to bug Sager till they just DO IT, but on the Video card it keeps giving me the INF File Missing remark. I have tried multiple catalyst drivers (x800) and no luck. So right now I'm feelin pretty stupid. Any suggestions?

Hi Mathew,

The drivers for Windows XP x64 require something called "decorations", and the error message you are getting indicates that the drivers aren't decorated.

I would suggest trying this: download the Catalyst 5.5 drivers from ATI's website that were compiled for XP x64 and also download a 3rd party tool called Mobility Modder. You can get this from http://www.driverheaven.net/patje/

There might be a problem with this, though. The Mobility Modder was written for 32-bit systems. Given that all this tool does is modify a file to allow the drivers to be installed on a laptop chip, I think there's a good chance that this will work.

Read the directions for how to use the Mobility Modder tool at the website I listed above -- it's very easy to use.

As far as the chipset drivers go, I have heard that Intel has released beta drivers for x64, but I don't know where to find them at the moment.

Hope this helps!

So does anyone know where I can get the chipset driver?

I've been looking, but haven't found them yet. Any luck getting the video drivers installed?

YEah, I finally just had to go into the INF file. Change some stuff, then i had to directly UPDATE the driver. You have to choose to do it yourself, and click the "Have Disk" option, THEN, you pick the INF file that is in the x64 folder in the ATI folder and then choose which driver (Graphics card) you specifically have. I know that was like a messy way of stating what i did. But hey, it worked! As for now, I simply need the blasted chipset driver (intel 915P) and the USB Cam driver. But i won't worry if that just doesn't work for now. Little frustrated though with the chipset. Thanx for helpin!
